New phone garbled sound

Just got a Razr, all worked OK. Spouse evidently hit button wrong in trying to answer phone. Now I hear garbled sounds coming from phone when spouse calls. Spouse cannot hear me. I tried having phone volume (up/down on flipfold increased) but no help. Has anyone seen before?
