The motor will automatically brake the scooter to stopped and keep it locked there until it is running again or put manually in neutral.

When the connection between the batteries and the motor is broken, there is NO braking action and that is what happened to me

SOURCE: Problems with Pride Celebrity X 4-Wheel Electric

It is often a damaged accelerator (Potentiometer). Sometimes the shaft on the wigwag breaks the contacts in the accelerator from being moved too vigorously when going over a bump too fast. A technician would need to repair this for you. Happy scooting. Regards Chris… [email protected]

SOURCE: pride sonic scooter won't turn on. the battery is

How do you know that the motor is functional? Have you load tested the batteries. If the batteries are bad usually they will still take a surface charge and appear to be fully charged.

SOURCE: pride mobility scooter wont move

hi, that noise could be a relay clicking off inside the motor controller because the brake on the motor has failed to release,

It quite a common problem and the only way to be 100% sure is try a replacement brake unit.

SOURCE: Pride Celebrity Deluxe Mobility Scooter - Serial Number

Hi. The serial number will be on a sticker on the upright support that holds up the seat. You will have to lift of the seat, and take the cover off the batteries to see it. It should be on the front of the deat support. Neil.

Pride Celebrity x. Batteries drain quickly despite new full charged batteries. When scooter is pushed in freewheel- brakes engage every few feet. Have to turn scooter on/off to get brakes to release.

hi Diane, the brake engaging is by design, distance is the key here

Have you tried another charger ?

1. when pushing the scooter in freewheel before the brake engages , is it easy to push ? what can happen is the brake does not release 100%, a easy test is to run the scooter then put your hand on the brake unit , is it hot ? be careful because it could be very hot , this will prove the brake is not releasing fully.

How do I fix my brakes that are locked up on my electric 3-wheel Pride scooter?

If your brakes are locking up while driving, this is a serious issue and you should stop driving the scooter and contact a technician. You can do very serious damage to your equipment that can result in replacing the motor, transaxle and/or both.

I have a pride go go elite traveler which has a knocking noise and gets slower and slower

hi,if the brake getting hot that means it not releasing fully, beware if you continue to use the scooter you may damage it further as you stressing the motor and controller unit...

I offer a free testing service and i'm able to fix a majority of brakes for low cost..

so what's happening here ?

Okay a voltage is applied to the brake allowing the motor to spin, the brake releases by powering a magnetic coil this in turn pulls the fiction plates away allowing the motor to spin...

While driving scooter rear will sometimes shutter for short period of time and remain moving. Sometimes it will stop on its own. Beep code of nine (9). I find if I lift battery pack and put back in place...

Yep There are 3 possible problems 1. Make sure that the key is out of the lock before reinstalling the battery pack. 2. The controller is overheating. Let it rest 10-15 minutes to cool down if it happens again and 3. I think you are having a brake problem where the brake is not fully disengaging from the motor and causing excess drag on the motor.
You can remove the brake from the rear of the motor being careful not to break or pull the wires going to the brake. Tie the brake up away from the motor keeping the wires intact. Try driving the scooter and see if it still shutters. If it doesn't then you can use it like that but you will have no brake and if you use ramps it is dangerous. You can carefully remove the brake pad and give it a good cleaning along with the face of the motor where the brake pad rubs. Then reinstall all the parts and try your scooter again. The shuttering should stop and to excess overload of the motor should stop too. You could replace the brake by contacting Pride Mobility @1-800-800-8586 and talk with tech support to find out if you can just replace the brake assembly. Hope this helps you
