Samsung fridge freezer SR2028CVW not cooling or freezing

Following error code on my fridge freezer model SRC 2028CVW The top digit of last 8 (on the fridge side) on digital display blinks. No other light or digits are displayed. No buttons on either side of the digital display work. The fridge freezer just stopped all of a sudden. Have tried switching it off now for 5 days bust still the same issue on plugging it back in. The light inside the fridge works but there is no cooling. The freezer is also not working. Bought the fridge freezer in around 2004 from John Lewis. How to fix the above issue?

thank you all very much for coming back so quickly - Every answer increased my understanding a little bit more. It was the defrost issue - I undid the cover in the fridge which contains the lights and the cooling fan. I then reset the fridge and everything seems to be working fine.

SOURCE: Digital display is blank in GE Profile fridge

Hi. Its either a bad motherboard or control board. I would check the control board for any obvious signs of damage to the board first. I've seen the control board go blank on the GE side by side and it turned out to be the motherboard. The motherboard is located behind a cover on the back of your refrigerator cabinet. You should have a new motherboard on hand at all times because they fail alot. Be sure to put a surge protector on your refrigerator. Good Luck, Mack

SOURCE: samsung rs2533sw fridge not cooling

soiunds like the coil on the refrigerator side is iced up.take and open the refrfigerator side and take a blow drier and after removing the 11 screws use the hair drier to slowly melt the icec behind the cover. If you pull too hard and or too soon you'll break the stryofoam ductin that has to be around the coil. then make sure that the drain line is clear reassemble and have a Merry Christmas!

SOURCE: Kenmore Elite bottom freezer refridgerator

I just went through this with my refridgerator and actually posted one of the questions. Here is what I found ........

In the freezer compartment behind the panel there is an evaporator fan which pulls cold air from the freezer and pushes it up into the refrridgerator compartment. If the fan is not working it is one of three things.. 1) there is so much frost in the fan area the fan blade is stopped and cannot push the cold air into the refridgerator compartment or the air channel is blocked. 2) there is no electricity going to the fan (usually tied to the door switch of the refirdgerator compartment, and 3) the motor is dead and will have to be replaced.

Solution to #1 - defrost but there is another problem in the "frost-free" part of the system which must be addressed or the frost will return and it will happen again in the future.

Solution #2 - check to see there is power to the fan. (most are 110VAC but some are 100VDC. Use a meter and check)

Solution #3 - If there is power, the motor is dead. Replace the motor. Be aware that AC and DC motors are different and replace per manufacture's specifications.

SOURCE: Samsung twin cooling fridge/freezer model

My husband removed the covers inside the fridge which contain the lights and the cooling fan. The problem was the icing up of the cooling fan (which circulates the cold air) preventing it from rotating also the drain hole at the bottom of the fan was also iced up.
The fridge was switched off at the wall socket whilst working on it. After removing the panel containing the fan and unplugging the connection take the panel outside. A hair dryer was used to thaw out the ice. The drain hole was made slightly bigger to hopefully prevent this happening again.
When panel is screwed back in fridge make sure the black sealing tape is in position also take care not to damage cooling pipes which are attached to the evaporator unit. Defrosting a couple of times a year might prevent this happening again. It seems to be a design problem which im sure the makers will be aware of and modify future appliances. Q Will the makers repair this problem free of charge even if the warranty has expired !?

SOURCE: Samsung RS2556 - Refrigerator side is not cooling - Freezer is fine

Ok, what I found out is that there are codes built into the front panel. If you hold the top left and right buttons for 5 seconds, the fridge will reset. If there are no issues, the panel goes blank. If there is a dash in the right side of the panel, there is an issue with the fridge side. In the left, freezer side. The dash indicates a defrost problem. Only a couple of things can cause this. 1. Sensor 2. Heater 3. Fan, 4. control board.

My Samsung refrigerator Model RFG297HDRS-XAA has 15-E code flashing.

Existing error codes for Samsung fridges run from 1 up to 13, in the majority of models as far as I could find out.
You might be having two error codes instead of one code
error 1 and Error 5.
Error 1 refers to 1. Ice Maker Sensor:
Ice Maker sensor connector missing, contact failure, electric wire cut, short-circuit, Ice Maker sensor failure.
Indicates an error when the temperature sensed by Ice Maker sensor is higher than 150 or lower than -58.
Error 5 refers to 5. Ice Maker Function Error:
Ice ejector and level failed three times or more.

I have a Samsung RF268ABRS Unit all food in bottom freezer thawed. Unit is running and ref is cool. I notice that the fan dosent seem to blow. Closed freezer up and its cold, but no air moving. How do...

I had a similar problem. my samsung freezer would only cool to 20 degrees, which also resulted in the freezer ice maker not functioning. (fridge door ice maker still worked) If you hold the power freeze and power cool buttons down together for 8 seconds it will a diagnostic. found the answers on http://appliancejunk.com/forums/index.php?topic=8206.0 , as too what the codes meant. Mine was throwing a freezer fan code error. ordered one online $30 and replaced it. seems to be working. TIP -The fan is located behing the rear panel in the freezer. I had two fans. The regular looking one is the freezer fan, the squirrel cage fan feeds the fridge ice maker. Also the new fan motors don't come with blades, just pull the blades off the old one and put it on the new motor. Don't push it on too far, make sure there is enough clearance so it spins freely.

Samsung RSA1WTMH i just blew my fusebox and my fridge freezer just flashing 1 led light

Hi,
hope the following helps you, I had a similar problem with my RSH1 and it took me a few hours searching online before I found the following.
"Hi, I have it on good authority that this is the system check for Samsungs (RS21, SRS20, etc) during normal operation, is to hold the top two buttons down, just until display flashes - this will reset the electronics.
Secondly, if the top two buttons are held down for longer (8 seconds) the display goes blank and will show any error messages in the form of DASHES
I have experimented with unplugging air or frost probes - and the error code you get -on a blank screen is different parts of the last digit lighting up.
Example: when i disconnect the fridge air-probe, shut both doors, hold down top buttons around display - The SIDE of the last "8" digit lights up ! ...strange but true.
But, I need to know what it means when the BOTTOM of the "8" digit lights up"

I am still trying to find a list of the error codes the lines refer to but so far my unit is working fine.

Kenmore fridge stopped cooling

sounds like its freezing up on you. check the drain outlet and make sure that its clear. also i would replace the defrost timer on this unit because its suppose to bring on the heaterfs to melyt the ice so thaat yoiu don't have to. they are around 30 mdollars at the appliancew repair store and all you need is the model number and serial number for the uit. after you get it it's either on the very top of the refrigerator section or in the very back. It has 4 wires going to it. good luck.

Samsung RS2555SL humming noise

don't know this model specifically, but have had loads of problems with these samsung fridge-freezers. the no water in drinks dispensor is probably due to the water bottle at the bottom of the fridge being frozen. this is endemic with samsung the noise you hear is ice hitting fan. samsung use two systems for fan. the one i think you have is separate fans for fridge and freezer and a separate evaperator for fridge and freezer. take of the back plate of the fridge and you will find the fan mounted in it. disconnect the plug and socket connection. you will probably find ice build up round the fan blade. melt off with hot water. the bar you had showing on the "8" is a fault code - the most common fault being the defrost termination sensor. unless you are experienced, this is not really a diy appliance
