I dont know how to open the General Electric Hot Point Dryer to repair a noise problem ..Can you help me?

    Open the dryer door and on the top inside where the door closes against the front panel are screws. Remove these...Sometime four and sometime two. Lift off the top and then looking down into the dryer at the top of the front panel, remove the two screws...one on the left inside and one on the right inside. These screws secure the front panel to the sides of the dryer. Pull the front panel toward toward you and lift up, Now the front panel is off allowing access to the inside of your dryer. Hotpoint dryer stop working
if its the same as my dryer CTD40 (or similar) then you have to remove the sides to check into the dryer if anything is stuck, i had a plastic burning smell once and found it was one of the runner wheels had dislodged and was scraping on the drum just re-aline the wheel if it is that, they do come off easily if the dryer has been moved, as i found out. also you will find that the sound of the dryer will change, (scrapeing noise) dont let an engineer lie to you and tell you the bearings have gone, (when i say engineer i mean when you call one out NOT Fixit engineers)

Dryer running to hot
well it would help to know the brand but one thing to check is, turn timer on to timed cycle and open door, push door switch in and wait to see if heater comes on. If it does replace element. clean your vent and replace thermostat if element is ok.
