There are not screws from the bottom of cabinet to top of microwave.... why is this, and how do I remove it?
there is about 1/32 inch from cabinet to top of microwave..
any suggestions?
Thanks
I also have a JVM1190 and was baffled as to removal. My very handy brother solved it in two minutes. Above the door and keypad there is a long grill secured by two small squarehead (Robertson) screws. Remove the screws and grill and you will see on either side of the opening a long bolt. They go through to the back of the microwave where the support plate attached to the wall. The bolts have a slot in the middle for a flat blade screwdriver. Simply turn the bolt to release from the back plate. Make sure there is a helper underneath as the microwave is fairly heavy. Do the reverse for re-installation.
Glad this worked for you. My youngest brother and I looked at this for at least two hours and took out just about every screw on the thing before we gave up. The middle brother is the can-do-anything genius. Somehow the youngest and oldest brothers missed those genes.
GAAAH! FINALLY someone figured this out! Next stop, Washington DC, to solve the budget crisis. Hire this person.
... That is to say "Thank you very much!" :-)
Amazing. Never seen one attach this way. No install manuals to be found anywhere, no clue how it was attached. I was starting to think I'd have to tear out my cabinets to remove it. THIS WORKED! THANK YOU!

I've got the same problem. I even removed the cabinet above the microwave and still can figure out how to get off the wall. Does anyone have any answers?
Did that post?
John,
Tell your "Handy Brother" he has been upgraded and now rates as a "Genius".
Just looked at it, the 2 long screws have a half circle with "LOCK" stamped in the sheet metal.
You would think GE might let somebody know about this.
Thanks to you and your and your now "Genius" brother.
(just a sidebar,is he the elder or younger brother?)
I am the youngest and was always told by the elder brother that he was the smarter one. (obviously I got the looks)
After closing the age gap (percentage wise) I have come to the belief that his logic & reasoning may have been skewed.
You and the younger may very well have the same genius genes, they may be just dormant at this point, or just waiting for the right opprotunity.
I think it all has to do with percentages...
Thanks again
