Screen freezing I have a problem with the picture 'freezing' and/or blanking, then getting a screen full of vertical green lines after being on for a couple of hours or so. When it happens, the sound continues OK. I can change channels, and get the audio, but screen stays frozen, or in it's 'green line' state. Only seems to happen when I am watching Satelite through the SCART connector, although it did happen once watching a DVD thru the second SCART connector, but that could have been a one off. Never happens when watching TV through the RF ariel. Have swapped SCART leads out, and changed connectors around on the back to see if the fault follows a particular SCART socket, but can't seem to pin it down. Could it be a problem/signal coming down from the satelitte which is spooking it? All 3 SCARTS are plugged in. 1. Satelite receiver, 2. Sony DVD recorder, 3. Proline DVD Player. Maybe a complete coincidence, but the Sony DVD Recorder seemes to beep and flash 'Smartlink' from time to time, even when in standby, and seems to be doing this around the same time the picture goes wierd. Switching the Plasma off and on always clears it. Any ideas

SOURCE: Vertical Black Line

HI,
First thing to do is the reset and the whacking test. I give this a 50/50 chance of clearing it up.

ONE: Disconnect the power cord for 4 hours. Then when you power it back up the internal soft codes will automatically reset to factory defaults.

TWO: The whacking test is to just bang or smack the set with your hand on the back, side, top, etc., to see if there are loose connections or cold solder joints inside that are acting up. If so, the banging should knock them back to normal and the set should restore. You might have to use some creative banging and some have had to put a book or magazine under one corner to torque the chassis enough to get it to work reliably.

If these two procedures do nothing then:

The manual always knows the best.Go through the manual carefully and u will find the solution to ur problem..

Goodluck and Kind Regards
Please Don't forget to rate me as fixya..

SOURCE: JVC PD-42DX6BJ plasma 42 inch black horizontal lines over the pic

Here's a link to order the original the JVC upper Y-buffer board and lower Y-buffer board for this model from a major parts distributor if needed:

JVC "PD-42DX6" Replacement Part Upper Y - Buffer Board (LJ41-02760A)

JVC "PD-42DX6" Replacement Part Lower Y - Buffer Board (LJ41-02761A)

Based on the symptoms: It is possible that the Y-buffers are faulty, which may require the replacement of the Y-sus board as well. You may want to get a local technician to diagnose the unit and provide a second opinion.

SOURCE: Sound stays on, but no picture- goes black and stays that way.

This unit should still be under warranty and should be taken in for warranty service. Any attempt to access the interior will void the warranty. It is important that a complete description of the problem like you entered here be taken along when you bring the set in for service. This will insure that the servicer be able to reproduce the problem and resolve it.

From your description (and as a servicer), I would be looking for a component that is heat sensitive. These types of problems are fairly easy to locate and resolve.

Please take this in for warranty service and update this when you find out the details.

Thanks,
Dan

Blue vertical line at reght side of screen

This is normal. Depending on what you have connected to it the lines could be white, black and white specs, or green. Just mode will show the entire picture event the parts that aren't supposed to be seen. I would not recommend that setting. Full is the best mode if you want to see the entire picture in the correct ratio.

Picture shows only about a 2-3" blue, green,or red vertical line down the middle

If your seeing vertical line across the screen you need to check the components in the vertical stage as well as the vertical IC could be bad, or the yoke could open.
Also check if any voltage reaching the vertical stage.

Good luck.
