SOURCE: Blower motor doesn't start with capacitor installed!

you need a meter that will measure uf (micro farads) it should read within about 10% of the rating 12.5uf otherwise you could charge it with an insulation tester (megger) and short the terminals with an INSULATED screwdriver to see if it discharges.

Does the condenser utilise head pressure control to maintain head pressure? if so is the unit fully charged...r22. r410 Freon.If the unit is an older model. the fan motor only runs at 850 r.p.m design flaw. The newer units now run the fan at 1075. R.p.m. I have installed many Goodman split systems and was having problems similar to yours. Hope this. Helps you

I have a Goodman model # CK30-10.. The fan on the outside unit runs sometimes. I notice when I first turn the unit on, the fan will run 5 to 10 minutes and then shutoff. Is this a capacitor or relay?

Not a relay. It is probably the capacitor. Also may be that the motor bearings are dry and the motor will need to be replaced. Its always less expensive to try the capacitor. Certainly work safe when it comes to run capacitors!

if motor spins freely by hand get another capacitor. doulble check the capacitor value in mfd. has to be the same.

Blower motor makes noise, but does not work goodman

its either a bad motor or bad capacitor if you try to spin the wheel by hand and it starts then its the capacitor

Goodman model PGB036075-1B when I turn on the heater the blower starts soon as the burnner starts about 2 sec. later the blower stops. then of course it overheats. What would cause the blower to shut...

bad blower motor run capacitor and or motor. Test capacitor or just replace in expensive if dont have test meters. If change motor make sure get new matching capacitor for new mtr.

I have a goodman cple42-1 The fan motor outside was not running and I was able to get it started but the house wont cool now. air is blowing but not cold.

the capacitor is possibly bad the indoor fan uses its own capacitor while the outdoor fan and compressor share a capacitor

My fan on my Goodman GSH130241AC quit today.

Shannon, this unit is under a 10 year parts warranty from Goodman and the installer.
The problem will be a bad fan motor OR a bad capacitor OR a bad fan relay switch OR a bad wire.
If the compressor is running OK,it is probably a bad motor.

Air Conditioning Compressors are Permanent Split Capacitor motors that use a "Run" capacitor. You can purchase a "Kick-Start" which is a hard starting device.

either bad motor ....or.... if you are lucky a bad run capacitor. you will need some sort of capacitor checker and multimeter to diagnose it further.
