P1i display problem...

I had posted a problem regarding the display going blank but the phone part is working fine. it can accept call, when i start the phone, it also gives the startup sound but nothing comes on the display...then after 2 or 3 days when i switched on the phone the display appeared and i thought my problem got fixed somehow...actually i had left the phone switched off during that time...when i phone started everything was fine..but when again after i saw my phone, i faced the same problem of the screen going blank...pls help i want to make sure what the problem is before i give it to the service center as i had bought this phone frm abroad and it doesnt have a warranty ...

    My display is so faint ....I can hardly see anything.

Solution Description:

  1. Back up your data using the Sony Ericsson PC suite, then perform Update Service as described below
  2. Log on to: http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/support/softwaredownloads/p1i?cc=hk&lc=en
  3. Download and install Update Service on your computer to keep the software in your phone up-to-date and ensure optimum performance from your phone.
  4. When the download is complete, an Update Service shortcut will be created on your desktop.
  5. While still connected to the Internet, click the ‘Update Service’ shortcut icon on your desktop
  6. Sony Ericsson window will pop up and downloading will begin. Allow the downloading to run complete to 100%
  7. Another Sony Ericsson window showing different countries’ languages will pop up, select your preferred language.
  8. Sony Ericsson ‘Welcome to Update Service’ window will pop up, showing ‘Exit’ on the left-hand side and ‘Start’ on the right-hand side.
  9. Click the ‘Start’ icon and select ‘Agree’ on the ‘Term of Use’ page that pops up
  10. Select your phone type and click on ‘Continue’
  11. Highlight your specific phone type and select ‘Continue’
  12. Follow the instructions as shown below:
- Make sure your phone is fully charged
- Connect the USB cable to a USB port on your computer
- Turn off your phone
- Remove and reinsert the battery
- Press and hold the ‘C’ button down while plugging the USB cable to the computer
- Continue to hold the ‘C’ button down until the instruction number ‘7’ on the Update Service comes up (i.e. Instructing you to ‘Release the ‘C’ button)
  1. Allow the update to run to the end
  2. When the system informs you that the latest update has already been installed on your system, click on ‘Continue Anyway’
  3. Click ‘Yes’ to all subsequent questions
  4. Allow the update to fully run to the end
  5. When update is complete, disconnect the USB from the computer and phone
  6. Remove and reinsert the phone battery
  7. Power on your Sony Ericsson P1i phone
  8. Congratulation!!!

NB: since the phone is not powering on, you may not be able to know whether the battery is fully charged. Hence, you will need to use a Sony Ericsson Deskstand. Connect the Battery Charger to its slot on the Deskstand and the USB cable to its slot simultaneously. This enables the battery to charge while the update is also running.

Have you check the cable that goes from the screen at the motherboard? Usually this cable is not visible; it is hidden it one of the joints between screen and main body of the notebook.This cable is the most common problem in the cases that the notebook keeps on working although the screen is black. You can check it by opening slowly - slowly the screen all the way up and closing again slowly. If there is a cut at the cable your screen will get black at a specific slope.

Hi The bottom of the toiuchscreen of the sony P1i is not working .. the top part is fine. Also sometime when I touch one icon, something else opens up. Its erratic. Can you help pls?
at first calibrate first your touchscreen sensitivity. at the control panel>setup wizzard>press next til the screen present you about calibration. > set up that and save if you have already copy your contacts from sim to your phone just ignore when it displays copy simcontacts to your phone. hope this helps.
*if software calibration doesnt fis this maybe it is the hardware.:(

Double Check that battery is not the problem
when battery falls below 5% it starts off to blink in all SE Phones .. i think that was the case with your phone .. with such low battery u can’t power up pi on phone

cheaper to use a marker id keep looking for a good marker ... ps good thinking with the marker it took my company 4 yrs before we realized we could solve that problem that way

I touched the display of my phone with wet hands and now I have no display. The phone works fine - accepts incoming calls and dials out but there is just a blank white screen so it is very hard to use...
try carefully opening it up and letting it dry 4 a few days then put it back together and see if it works

Wifi connection problem on P1i
Try formatting the phone to factory settings. Happens with my P1i occasionally. If your wifi is secured, it gives such problems. Dont secure your wifi. Try in any other wifi network.

My screen goes blank all the time...i would take the battery out put it back in and it works for a bit then agagin it would go blank...the phone otherwise accepts calls and makes calls.....please help
the problem is with the phone's display, or with the connector...but it also may be with the phone's software...so I guess you should give it a master reset...but I don't guarantee that it will work
