Config Problems After Repair

I just got my Yamaha RX-V800 receiver back from a repair for a standby power off problem. Now I cannot get the Center, Rear and Subwoofer speakers to work as well as many of the effect settings. Could the repair center have changed all these parameters or do I have a whole new set of problems to get fixed?

I am a novice at audio equipment and hooked it up 6 years ago right out of the box and everything worked great. Now I am going through the Yamaha manual trying to check and configure according to the troubleshooting guide and having a miserable time. Is the some type of "Yamaha RX-V800 for Dummies" guide book that does a better explanation of how to set up the receiver?

Sounds like they centre has configured your speakers to "none". You need to hook it up to a tV or monitor and go through the menu to "speaker settings" and make sure you select either "sml" or "lrg" for the speaker type. Also ensure on the LFE settings that you select either "swoofr" or "both."

Yamaha RX-V800 shuts down when any control button is pressed

What if you DON'T use the remote? Does it shut down when just using it?

If SO, you have a bigger problem.

If NOT, it sounds like the remote is hosed - sending a code to shut off.

Do you have another remote of any brand that you could set to do something simple, like change volume? Don't train it from the original, though, or it would do the same thing.

Yamaha RX-v800 av receiver will not power up. Was playing and just shut off & will not powere up again. Was in a stereo/tv cabinet with closed glass doors. Cabinet compartment has vent holes in back....

Mine did the same thing two days ago. No reason to suspect overheat as mine is in the open. Could be the power supply? Mine comes on after sitting for a while.

Rx-v800, have a problem when i swtich the input mode, it will turn off. after leave it for few months, now no problem but not sound.

Test an audio source like "DVD" connected to the "Direct" input with left, center, right, rear, andsub input. put the receiver in "Direct mode" if you get audio, the main DSP chip is bad, get an estimate first since it can only be verified by bench testing the unit. It's not a cheap repair 400-500 range. Most new Yamaha receiver's in the modest range run 500-800- new. Hope this helps

No picture from wii

The RX-V800 switches the various video signal types separately.
Since you are feeding S-Video to the TV the composite (yellow) input from your Wii is not going anywhere.
If you cant get S-Video output from the Wii then I'd suggest a simple Composite to S-video adaptor plug ($5 say). It worked for me with a Game Cube.

Need yamaha codes to program into uverse tv ir remote

(I have the RX-V659). Because the Yamaha remote has TWO SEPARATE buttons - power ON and power OFF (standby). This problem can't be fixed. There's a code to choose power ON and another code for power OFF. But one button can't be two buttons. Bad engineering\ design by Yamaha in my opinion

Yamaha rx-v800 remote control's damaged

it can be accessed via the main unit controls but you need to go through your manuals. Maybe you can get your remote repaired still... maybe not badly damaged caused by corrosion.
