While watching tv the red is off to the right to a point of almost being a double image. When doing Magic Focus it has 3 red bars under the Magic Focus text on the left. When Its done it gives me a #5 in the lower right of the tv. Magic Focus does nothing to fix the problem.
When trying to converge it manually it gets rather confusing. Trying to align the red back to center on one side pulls the other side even more out of whack.
I've almost figured out how to get it back to normal but it still isn't right. It seems that you can only adjust from the sides and the middle?
The red is off in equal proportions and not wavy, just needs to be pulled back to straight.....
What is the best way to begin this process? Start in the middle, the bottom, the top?
Anything you can advise me would be great!
SOURCE: convergence
you need to check your + and - 15 volt lines, sounds like you have bad convergence IC`s and at least one open or way up in value resistor in the convergence section.
SOURCE: Magic Focus does not work.
Convergence issues usually resolved by changing convergence output amplifier IC's.....Original STK392-110 should be replaced
with upgrade Stk394-160E Hitachi part # CZ 01341,change both
for reliability.....check B+ feed resistors for over-heating....T.

Sounds like a Convergence IC problem, the convergence ics would need to be replaced. This can be done by yourself or a professional.
SOURCE: Convergence problem, I think
i think you need a tech .because all the users adjustment were tried.
SOURCE: I purchased a tv repair kit and replaced the
As per statement, "the magic focus works great, the colors are bright and aligned" it means the tubes are working ..you need feed a signal to see the picture...the tv video goes muted without signal
