13.5 hp Briggs & Stratton
Hello sir, mower will not start or run, runs only when primming, does it have good spark, good compression,or only runs on full choke, are you getting fuel to the engine if not try this, your fuel pump or your carb. is clogged up here is what you can do for a simple repair for the carb, you can remove the air filter and assy, empty fuel tank and clean out tank and line, remove the bowl nut and bowl careful of the gaskets, now spray carb cleaner in the small port holes in the carb steam in the middle of the carb until clean, now spray the bowl nut holes until clean there are three, after cleaning put bowl on the same way you removed it with dip towards front of float, put bow, and fresh gas,you should be good to go,hope this helps.,thank you.~~

Hi..my name is Keith...and the engine is running too lean..and with you choking it..it richens the mixture..so its a carb problem..and that could be several things..1)..is the main metering jet needle on the bottom of the float bowl needs to be turn out until the engine runs smooth..or 2) the carb to engine gasket is bad and its sucking air..or 3)..the passage ways in the carb is stopped up..i hope one of these will help..if not please write me back

you did not say what kind of mower it was ,, hope this help you,, if it has a metal rod that hooks to carb in a long round like shape, take carb. lose hook to carb first and then put the rounded in the slot going to your gas feed,, move your gas up and down and look to see where it is moveing and you will see a slot there, may sure you put end in carb on top

There are no timing marks, timing is correct when the flywheel key is in place, the flywheel is properly torqued and the air gap for the magneto is properly set

it could be worn out piston rings letting unburnt fule past into the sump oil
Testimonial: "Thank you for theinformation. I did suspect it may be the Piston Rings but I always thought you would get heavy smoke from the exhaust if the rings were going??"
