RCA 20F610TD TruFlat TV/DVD Logo

Black Box so i have a RCA flat screen tv/dvd combo and about 6 months after i got it, this black box (almost taking up the whole screen) started popping up on certain channels. sometimes i could just change the channel once and it would go away; sometimes i had to change it two or three times. but it was only on local channels (usually during the news, or news commercials). however, after i moved and got charter cable and DVR, the black box is on every channel, and pops up anytime i use the DVR features. its a decent tv and i'd like to keep it, but this has become a very annoying problem. ever heard of it? thanks!

My tv does this too but only on a few channels. The menu for my RCA doesnt offer an "off" option, just various "t" or "cc" options and if I switch it to cc then I see the closed captions on the tv! ack!

Same tv, same problem

This solution may annoy some since you will have the display info on the screen but it gets rid of the black box.

simply press display on your remote so that the channel is displayed on screen.

I had the same problem with my rca truflat.. i read from a posting of a similar problem with a different tv brand to switch your closed caption options 'off' or set it to a 'cc' option instead of the 't' options.. (this was done through the on-screen menu..) i gave it a try and it worked for my tv.. hope it works for you..

Black box in middle of screen/picture

Closed Caption function to that channel you select is ON. Make it OFF, when you are in that channel which displays this black box. It will be best to reset the TV to its factory settings first, and then re-tune it. for more details, refer its user manual.

17 yr. old 35" RCA loses color intermittently. Picture & sound ok

Three guns Red Blue and Green in the picture tube of an old CRT set. If one of the guns goes out it effects that color. Sounds like one of the guns inside of the tube is going out, To costly to replace for such an old antilog set that will have to have a convertor box next month anyway.

Hitachi Ultrascan HD Black square question?

If that black box is generated by Tv, it should be there all the time, like on cable, av input etc.
as you said its not always, so cable top box is suspected which can generate such box as well.
I would suggest when you see that box in tv reception, simply play dvd player and check is that box still appears on dvd input? I hope black box wont appear in playback of dvd player.
Need further help, please let me know.
