M2NPV-VM - Fastest Compatible Processor?

Hello here is the cpu list:

http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/list.aspx?SLanguage=en&p=1&s=24&m=M2NPV-VM&os=&hashedid=HGTVnGv5nGahCYgK

I am glad to tell you that, the 945 cpu will fit your mainboard.
This is the fastes cpu, you can get for this mainboard.
Any other cpu that are not on the list, will not fit the mainboard ( it will not run )

But you probably have to upgrade the bios, to support the new cpu.

Make also sure the powersupply, is bigger than 300 watts.
I suggest a 500 watts.
You can also add more ram memory, for better performance.
Your mainboard supports:

4 x 240-pin DIMM, support max. 8GB DDR2 ram.
But a 32 bit system, only supports up to 3 gb.

Download also the manual here:

http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&p=1&s=24&m=M2NPV-VM&os=&hashedid=HGTVnGv5nGahCYgK

By selecting your windows system.
Open the manual folder, and click on global for download.
Adobe reader, is needed to read content.

Hope this was helpfull.

M2NPV-VM - Fastest Processor?

If ASUS says that is the fastest that will work on the board, then they should know. Incidentally processors don't run at 95 volts although some run at a power consumption of 95 watts. Besides there is not a faster AM2 CPU than the one you mention.

Suggest this motherboard:

The only catch is this board runs, DDR3 memory. Up to 16GB of Dual Channel memory.

Review:
http://techreport.com/articles.x/14655

Asus comes with an impressive three year warranty. Most manufactures support 1 year only.

Here is another Asus board that will run your CPU & DDR2 memory:
http://usa.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=11&l3=709&l4=0&model=2581&modelmenu=2
Same 3 year warranty. There are two boards that support the 945 chipset below:
http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=11&l3=707

Keep in mind you do not have to keep the 945 chipset. The newer boards still support 945 & better.
The choice is your's.

Good luck pbkajey!

Asus 945 motherboard is in stand by mode. When I power on , the LED of mother board is glow The cpu fan just jurking and stop. And the LED of motherboard is still now glow.

Hi kausik, that green led you see on the motherboard is just letting you know there is power to the board. (This is normal).
You'r CPU fan jerking & stopping is a bad thing & has nothing to do with standby mode. Your CPU fan needs to be replaced.
There are a bunch of Asus 945 boards, just click the link to see.

If you are able to remove the fan from the heatsink than you may be able to buy a fan from here.
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_tlc.asp?CatId=99&name=Cooling-Products
Most people replace both heat sink & fan.

Have more questions, feel free to ask.
Good Luck!
