What kind of wire do I need to connect my samsung laptop to panasonic viera hd 3d plasma tv?

I just got a new 3D plasma TV. It came with a wire to connect to a computer, but it doesn't fit into any of my laptops jacks.

  • Anonymous Feb 05, 2012

I don't know exactly what kind of laptop I have, it was a gift from my uncle, all I know is it's a samsung. The TV is a Panasonic TC-P55GT30 HD 3D Plasma.

  • Cindy Wells Feb 05, 2012

The TC-P55GT30 has HDMI and a VGA port. To use the VGA port, you need the Panasonic adapter, K1HY20YY0007, in addition to the VGA M/M cable. (Apparently, Panasonic used non-standard jacks on their TVs in this series.) I've seen some sites that reference TPASX50 as a replacement for K1HY20YY0007. To use the TV speakers, you will also need the audio adapter, K2KYYYY00138 , and an RCA M/M to 3.5 mm M adapter . Partstore.com and Sears Parts Direct list the cables as out of stock but available in a week or so.

As far as I can tell, the HDMI ports do not support a computer signal.

The manual for the TC-P55GT30 is here:http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANP... (watch the URL wrap).

Look on the bottom of the laptop to find a label with the model number. The video port will be on the side or the back of the machine.

    I hope this helps.

Most TVs will have HDMI and RCA component and composite jacks. Some TVs will also have a VGA port. Your laptop will have a VGA port. (If the laptop is fairly new, it may also have an HDMI port.)

Not all TVs will support an HDMI signal from a computer, so the VGA signal is often better. However, that limits you to SD (anything with HDCP will fail.)

Very few TVs ship with the HDMI or component cables. However, there are some vendors who do package the HDMI cable with their TV. Without knowing which exact model of TV and laptop, I can only make a few suggestions. I know that the TCP42ST30 (Plasma 42") doesn't have a VGA port.

Look at your laptop for any external monitor port. VGA ports are generally blue female ports with 15 holes (D-Sub). If your TV has a matching VGA port, get a standard VGA monitor cable.

If you have the VGA port on the laptop but not on the TV, you can try a converting from VGA to HDMI. (You may need a DVI to VGA adapter and either a DVI to HDMI cable or a DVI to HDMI adapter.) Note: this gives an analog signal (RGB format) to the TV. You'll also need to make sure that your VGA port is active (in the BIOS for some computers) and then set your computer to send the signal to the external monitor. It is best to turn off both the computer and the TV before connecting the two. Then turn on the TV and set it to the correct input before turning on the computer. (In Windows 7, I set the video signal for the external monitor by right clicking on the desktop and selecting Graphics Properties. Set the signal to the external monitor and click Apply. Then click OK (in the external monitor's screen).)

If this doesn't work, you need a VGA to component video converter. (Not a VGA to component video cable - those are for projectors that read the RGB signal.) See http://www.ramelectronics.net/audio-video/video-converters/vga-rgb-hv-to-component-video/c10000-c11200-c11215-p1.html .

Some laptops come with an HDMI, mini-HDMI or a DisplayPort option. For the latter two, you will need the appropriate cable with that end and the HDMI connector on the other. Then connect the TV and the computer as described above. (Note: my TVs accept a computer signal at the HDMI port labeled HDMI/DVI. However, you need to make sure that your TV understands this signal. It isn't the same format as that from a set-top box. My laptop has VGA and HDMI out; the desktops have VGA, DVI and HDMI (on one).)

If you add a comment with the model of your TV and laptop, I'll be glad to give you more specific options to connect the TV and the computer.

I hope this helps.

(A DVI port is a digital video out option with ~21 pins and is usually white.)

Hi, There are 2 ways you can connect. 1 is by RCA type wire (cable)
2 is by HDMI (cable). Personally I would go with the HDMI. Better cable and with more info to and from the Laptop. Hope that helps.

SOURCE: what does it mean when my plasma tv turns off by

Basically when it turn itself OFF automatically all the time, the TV goes into "Protection Mode". This happens when there is a damaged circuit board inside the need to be replace and turn itself OFF to protect the other ones from being damaged.

A TV service tech will have to look at it to find out which boards need to be replace. There are about 7 different boards in your TV that would cause this problem.

SOURCE: Home cinema/Viera link problem

Turn everything off and disconnect from mains.
Wait a few minutes.
Disconnect HDMI cable.
Turn on TV and DVD.
Connect cable.
If this does not work use a cable of different spec.
I had the same problem and now mine works .
Good luck.

Why does my Panasonic Viera VT50 have no picture and red led blinks 3 times

First thing, check the HDMI input and make sure it is firmly connected, same for the power cable, obviously. My Samsung goes similarly nuts if it detects no signal from the currently selected input but after 1-2 minutes it eventually stops and I can change the input source.

No power, moved tv and no power

You probably have some capacitors on the power supply board that have gone bad. When they do... the TV will not re start.

My Panasonic TCP42GT25 turned off by itself and won't turn back on. The power source light is blinking 4 times and then pauses. any ideas on how to fix this? thanks.

Try disconnecting all of your HDMI cables and plugging the power cord of the TV into another wall outlet. If this resolves the issue, you may have had a small power surge from either your wall outlet or one of your source devices. It is recommended to connect your TV to a surge protector if you haven't done so already.

Resetting your TV should make your TV create a new Facebook token. This token should then be entered on your computer at www.facebook.com/device.

A tutorial on how to reset your TV can be found at http://shop.panasonic.com/docs/how-to/2013/tv/reset-procedure/How_to_Reset_your_Panasonic_Viera.html
