the waste ink absorber cannot be replaced mate. you have to buy new printer.the waste ink absorber is the sponge part where head cleans all its ink. its a common problem in cannon.
There is an absorbent sponge in the bottom of your waste ink container to help contain the waste ink your printer generates when it cleans the print head nozzles. That sponge is probably full and has triggered a "most informative" error message!
Check your user's manual about the procedure for changing the absorber and where to buy new ones.
This is a very common problems with canon printers. They are set for a certain number of prints and they need the ink absorber serviced. Now along with resetting the printer its best to replace the absorber. Hi. I have researched on it and found that the procedure below resets the waste ink absorber most of the times and that too automatically. Hope it helps.
Select the connected USB port number from USB PORT
Click LOCK RELEASE, and select the applicable model name in SET DESTINATION
In CLEAR WASTE INK COUNTER, select MAIN or PLATEN. The selectedwaste ink counter will be reset. MAIN resets the main waste inkcounter, PLATEN resets the platen waste ink counter.
If both the main and platen waste ink absorbers are replaced, reset both the main and platen waste ink counters.
The waste absorber is full ,Replace the pads
then if you still get the error,you can reset it by following the directions below. (reset without replacing pads can cause damage)
1) Enter SERVICE MODE By pressing Menu-Scan-Copy-Scan 2) Enter NVRAM by pressing <--- or ---> then OK 3)SET ABS-M LEVEL TO 0 4)OK
hi i am a certiffied Canon repair tech for this model. this is true this will reset the error but doing so without replacing the waste asorber pad in the bottom of the machine will cause your machine to backup waste ink into the the printing area of the machine and will start smuging ink on the page. the waste absorber is fairly cheap but the labor varies from shop to shop. there are independent Canon repair shops throughout the world. you can call 1-800-ok- canon or look on the canon website. hope this help to clairify.
