Chevy cavalier doesn't move.

My 1996 Chevy Cavalier doesn't move. It will turn on, but when I shift it into any gear it won't move. I've check the linkage and it seems to be intacted. The transmission fluid is perfect.

I am sorry but you have a failed transmission on your hands, no other explanation fro this symptom.

If it were the transmission would it still run without any hesitation? Could there be a problem with the connection with the linkage?

My 2004 chevy cavalier will not respond (move) in any gear. Is this a failed transmission?

If the shift linkage moves inside the trans
then-- yes

Somehow think you have more to the story &
knew it was on it's way out

1998 Chaevy Cavalier manual transmission won't shift

Hi orvil brad hear, I would guess since you said you have a brake fluid leak, all of the master cylinder pressure is going out through the leak, not leaving enough pressure to actuate your clutch. If its not this it will problem be inside the tranny and thats another story. Good luck

My 2004 chevy cavalier won't start it is stuck in

Your shifter cable sounds like it separated from the transmission or shifter or just broke. you are probably stuck in a moving gear so the neutral safety switch is disabling the ignition.

1999 chevy cavalier transmission won't shift into

1999 cavelier manual trans: My son was shifting his manual trans really rough (ramming through the gears to try to beat someone out at a light) and ended up not being able to put it into anything but 3 and 4 (straight up and down). We noticed that the shifter cable, that actuates the position of the arm on the transmission, had pulled away from a "c" clip and was not held into place about 8-10 inches down the cable away from the trans. The cable needs to be secured into that clip in order to let the wire inside move the trans. lever to shift. Otherwise you will be stuck on what ever "rail" your trans is on at the time of disconnection. It would be the first thing that I would check.

98 chevy cavalier turns over but won't start

i know industry jargon can be confusing, but lets try this. if it turns over but won't start, it could be your ''ignition module'' that sits on top of the vave cover on the motor or it might be the fuel pump or filter. make sure when you crank the engine that the key is all the way turned or it may not always make a proper contact to activate the ignition module. iv'e seen this before & had to change the ignition switch & all worked ok after that. i would need to know engine lt size to give you more details on the matter. please get back to me.

My 1997 Chevy Cavalier gear shifter is really stiff going into each gear, why?

If it's an automatic transmission....
Try a SMALL amount of light oil on the transmission shift selector on the transmission. (follow the cable in the engine compartment down to the transmission) If its covered in mud and dirt, clean it off with water. Also try oiling the same cable internally.

When taking a left turn and accelerating my chevy cavalier shift into neutral and then back into gear

I would start off by making sure the motor and trans mounts are good and not letting the motor and trans move under throttle.
