I was receiving "You must plug magic jack into usb" error
This is the fix that worked:
please download and Run the remover :
http://upgrades.talk4free.com/tools/mjRemover.exe
after you have done that , download the MS Fix http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9645377
then Run the UPGRADE http://upgrades.magicjack.com/upgrade/upgrade.exe
Simple steps and straight forward too.
Just follow step 1 and 2 with MJ plugged in
... and restart after step 2. Don't forget to unplug the MJ when restarting.
For Step 3 click up grade with the MJ plugged in.

Please unplug your magicJack. Now go to "Start" in Windows and click on "run". In there write regedit and press enter.
Now click on + sign next to HKEY_LOCAL MACHINE.
Click on + sign next to SYSTEM.
Click on + sign next to CurrentControlSet.
Click on + sign next to Enum.
Now find the folder called USB. Right click on that and click on "Permissions". In permissions click on the check mark called "Allow" to the right of "Full Control". Click Ok.
Now click on + sign next to USB and then find the two folders called "Vid1307", right click on one at a time and select delete. (if there is no "Vid1307" is not available don't worry it will be deleted anyway).
Now click on - Sign next to USB.
Right click on Folder called USBSTOR and allow permissions.
Now click on + sign next to USBSTOR.
Find the folders called "CdRom&Ven_YMAX&Prod_MagicJack&Rev"and "Disk&Ven_YMAX&Prod_MagicJack&Rev".
Right click on those one at a time and delete them.
If you can't delete those folders, right click on it and and click on "Permissions". In permissions click on the check mark called "Allow" to the right of "Full Control"
Right click on those one at a time and delete them.
Now exit Regedit and then plug your magicJack in.
(This deletes the info about MagicJack and should reinstall it. Modified from my chat w/ MagicJack)
I posted this on another post but want to spread it as much as possible. I spent 2 days of frustration with this item then solved this issue by the following:
1. Start
2. Right click My Computer then select properties
3. Select Hardware then Device Manager
4. Click + DVD/CD ROM Drives
5. Right Click Tiger Jet CD-ROM USB Drive then Uninstall
6. Unplug Magic Jack and wait 15 seconds
7. Plug Magic Jack back in
8. Wait for devices to re-install, MJ may start here, if not...
9. Click Magic Jack Icon and program should start
I have to do this everytime I unplug or reboot. I don't know why it hangs but this procedure works for me everytime. Good Luck
I have tried all of these solutions and none worked...this is what DID work though amazingly enough...unfortunately afterward I lost all of my contacts and had to put that all in again from scratch..what a pain..but it worked...I noticed that when I went into "My Computer" it only showed one drive letter with a magicjack logo...the other drive that normally was supposed to be the magicjack was just an unopenable drive...when I tried to open the drive it asked me to format it...I did just that without changing any setting and clicked on start...even after it warned me that I would lose all data...it completed in less than a second and then I tried running the autorun.exe again from inside of the other drive letter that still had the logo..suddenly everything came back up...asked me to enter in the registration email and password..but other than that...everything came back up (: there really does need to be an easier way.

Warning: You must plug magic jack into USB- what i did to fix this problem was, i unpluged the magicjack and went in to the device manager and clicked the box beside the dvd/cd-rom drives and uninstalled my dvd drives when asked to restart say no then click the box next to Universal Serial Bus controllers and uninstall all of the drives listed (DONT WORRY THE DRIVES WILL ALL BE REINSTALLED BY THEM SELVES AT START UP) . then restart computer from the start menu. then plug the magicjack in while the computer is shuting down
(the blue windows screen) before the restart. all of the drives will be found automaticlly. sit and wait for all the drives to load. this helped me and i was trying to find an anwser for 4 days. GOOD LUCK AND I HOPE THIS HELPS WHOEVER TRYS IT
I found A very easy Fix!! If the message says Please plug magicjack into USB,its not the magicjack!! It's your CD/DVD drive!! I found a free download, check it out!! http://www.brothersoft.com/rizone-cd-dvd-repair-322765.html
I had the same error: “Warning: You must plug magicJack into USB”
I got mine working after trying other people's fixes and had no luck. I turned my Windows XP Firewall off and plugged in my Magic Jack and it loaded itself finally and then added an upgrade. I turned my Windows XP firewall back on and unconnected and reconnected my "Magic Jack" and it works fine now.
Check your firewall to see if it is blocking the usb connection. That is my suggestion.
Do me a favor and put this to the top of the solutions. It's the easiest solution to try and probably the one that is going to fix most people's magic jack usb connection problems
Try this. It worked for me.
Get the latest update for your magicjack and run the update.
Then restart your computer.
Go to my computer there are supposed to be two drives for the magicjack, however when you right click on both only one will have the option to format.
Format the one that has the option. Before you go to the next step you should backup your contacts, because they would be lost with the formatting. When you click on format enter "PHONE" under volume label and check the quick format box.Click OK. When completed right click the other Magicjack drive and click on start Magicjack.
This should solve your problem. Interested to know if it works. Good Luck!
Found it a easy way to do it just update dont have to format it

Solution For “Warning:You must plug magicJack into USB”
error
If every time your computer reboots, or you change MJ to
other computers and you get the message “Warning: You must plug magicJack into
USB” and then you get transferred to a stupid website showing a kid and 2 dogs
named Magic and Jack and you are totally frustrated, then this solution may
help a lot.
First: Why is this happening? “My MJ was working fine before
the “Lucky You” upgrade and now it acts erratically.” Yes, I too, have spent
many hours on the MJ chat box and got only temporary fixes. After reading many
posts, I have come to the conclusion that MJ was compromised and people were
using the service without paying for it. The MJ people made software changes at
their end and forced firmware changes at the user end. But since there are many
“hardware” variations out there, this caused many problems. The problems and
solutions vary from one user to another. There is no “one solution – fits all”
fix out there and they know it and won’t admit it. There are too many devices
out there and it would be too costly for them to try to replace all of the
devices. Besides, that would be admitting that they made a mistake and they
sent the devices out prematurely without fully testing them (kinda like Windows
95, 98, 2000, XP, Vista, etc.).
OK, now for the fix that works great for me. This solution
requires a little bit of old DOS knowledge. I am assuming that you have already
downloaded the appropriate Upgrade.exe file from the MJ website and have
installed the upgrade already.
After you have done the above solution once and if it solves
your problems, then your ready for the next part that makes the procedure much
easier, does not ask for a user/password, and keeps your address book.
The following are one-time procedures that need to be done
in order to make the easy part work:
echo off
if exist g:\*.* goto fault
format g: /fs:fat
mkdir g:\magicJack
copy c:\mj\*.* g:\magicJack\*.*
f:\autorun.exe
goto end
:fault
cls
echo MagiJack not installed or not in correct drive
location!!!!
echo Check for memory sticks and other USB devices
connected!
echo Remove offending drive component and restart computer.
pause
:end
Note that “g” is my “Removable Disk” drive and “f” is my
“magicJack” drive. IMPORTANT: You must replace these letters with your own
drive letters that you found in Step #5 above and then save it on your Desktop.
***Now plug in the MJ box, wait for the start of the stupid
MJ site, close the site, click on the batch file that you made and MJ will boot
up properly with NO login and your address book will appear. Every time your
computer reboots or you plug in the MJ box, this is all you need to do!***
Note: If you change your address book, you will need to
recopy it over and un-hide it.
This method works great for me. I am using XP Pro but it
probably will work with other Windows operating systems.
I hope this works for you as well as it does for me, but
realize that the solutions are not the same for the same problem.
Tim
Thro it awae and give me my money back.
After reading the solutions, I had the best result by formatting the MagicJack drive then letting the software install again. This seemed to work best , but eventually the problem would come back. So I looked a little further and realized that my USB bus voltage / current output may not be sufficient or unstable to consistently drive the device. I recommend that a powered USB hub be installed on the computer, then plug the MagicJAck into thar hub. I bought a cheap USB powered hub at Wal-Mart and so far MagicJAck has ran more stable. Give it a try!!
When I plug magic jack into a usb port I get the message: "warning: you must plug magicjack into usb"
Can i slove this problem with magic jack
How can i solve these prblem: ((you must plugg magic jack into usb))
help me please
I found the answer here!

The "REAL" fix! Are you a techie? I'm not. So after trying all of the above from the "techies" that try to impress with their convaluted **** for a complete waste of my time, I did what always works for me (I should have tried it first). SYSTEM RESTORE!!!! Simply try to remember when your MJ last worked and find a restore Point at least there or prior to then. Note, I have Windows 7, not Vista. Click on: Start, Control Panel, System & Security, Review Your Computer's Status, Recovery, Open System Restore, Next, Select a Restore Point (or click Show More Restore Points), Next, Finish. Finally, my MJ works again.
Hi , today i am going to show you how to solve magic jack err warning you must plug magic jack into usb. go to control panel and look for magic jack and unistall magic jack.
after that plug in the magic jack to the computer and if anything pops up close it or canncel it.Then you will have to download this http://download.microsoft.com/download/2/C/B/2CB64817-A269-4116-818D-B85F3029EA89/MicrosoftFixit50027.msi
after download it download the magic jack upgrade
http://upgrades.magicjack.com/upgrade/upgrade.exe
This is how I got mine to work. From an IT Professional
I was getting the error messages
"warning you must plug magic jack into usb " and "broken storage". I tried the approaches above and none worked.
Out of frustration I studied what was happening and realised that the virtual drive and MJ flash memory driver were dissapearing on trying to start MJ. Hence the broken storage message.
Solution.
Got a spare empty flash drive and formatted it with the settings of the flash memory for MJ. Ie make sure the flash drive is formatted with the fat file system and that the name is "PHONE".I then unplugged the MJ and plugged it back in so that the MJ virtual cd drive and flash drive can reappear again.
Then I went to start and right click on computer, then click manage. Next double click on Disk Management. Next find the drive letter of the MJ flash in the details section. Right click the details for the flash memory and choose "Change drive letter and paths" Click on remove to remove the drive letter for the MJ flash drive. Now the drive is invisible to the Operating system and only thing that can be seen at my computer is the MJ virtual cd drive and the new flash drive that was formatted earlier(Which MJ will recognise now as the official flash drive).
Now download and run the update from MJ website below.
http://upgrades.magicjack.com/upgrade/upgrade.exe
After this runs MJ starts up and everything is fine
Even when you remove the new flash drive
and unplug your MJ and plug it back in, everything starts up fine from then on.
Hopes it works for you.
If your magicjack says "warning you must plug magicjack into usb" here is a solution I found (after days of frustration) http://xomba.com/fix_magicjack
This should help get your magicjack fixed.
I was getting the identical error. I unplugged my magic jack from the usb port for 20 seconds then plugged it back in. Never turned my system off because my system wasn't detecting magicjack. It's working great now.
Answer was at
http://www.magicjack.com/9/magicfix.asp
I found the answer under the link Cannot start my magicjack. I skipped all steps except the one I listed above.
Previous posting on this site listed the magicjack site location.

warning you must plug magicjack into usb
Getting message "Warning: You must plug magic jack into USB"
Everytime i shutdown and restart the computer it gives me this message. Then I have to format the magicjack and it will work for that time and that's it. Anyone got any solution?
i used the new magic jack only for one month. Now a warning comes plug the magic jack into usb. Itried several times in different computers. with the same result. Now the magic jack is seen as an ordinary drive in my computer. and i cannot format it . So i cant use it Please help
THIS HAPPENS ABOUT EVERY THREE DAYS.
I have the same problem recurring. After about 3 months and innumerable hours of on-line dialog with the very courteous representatives at majicJack I am giving up. I have tried all of these fixes and more. Some of them work some of the time. None of them work for very long. When the device does work (ie - you rebooted everything) it cuts you off in the middle of calls. Very frustrating. I am moving my service back to Vonage. FYI - I have a new, very fast computer and am running Vista (device seemed to work better with the old XP).
The "REAL" fix! Are you a techie? I'm not. So after trying all of the above from the "techies" that try to impress with their convaluted **** for a complete waste of my time, I did what always works for me (I should have tried it first).
