50 inch plasma , screen comes on with blurred colour sections but also blank patches

check the VS supply which may drop, tried to adjust.

there are little chips that drive each section of the screen
you can open it up and check out the connections to that part of the screen.
the chip is physically in the same place but its usually built into the ribbon cable.
try reseating the cable and hopefully it will start working.
if you inspect the chip and see a pin hole burned into it, its a bad chip and usually part of the plasma panel = bad plasma panel/screen

my hatachi hd/1080 tv has a solid blue light on and it wont turn on i push the reset button on the bottom right and it still wont turn on

You would need to purchase a complete new screen as it is not practical or economic to have this done. I would suspect your fault could be a poor connection from the buffer board to that section of the screen or most likely, as you state, the screen is at fault. It is now just as reasonable to buy a new TV than to have the screen replaced
