The best price I could find in the US for the
Euope maps was about $230 -on the internet - normal retail is $299. You have to buy and use it off the SD card, so depending on how long your trip is it might be more practical renting one, unless you want to try selling the SD card after you return.

SOURCE: "Detail maps Don't Support Routing" in Garmin Quest

I too have a Garmin Quest and yesterday felt like throwing it against the wall because of the above problem. I found the solution eventually. When you download the maps from the Garmin Maps page, where you select the maps download, make sure that the checkbox to "Include route calculation data" is ticked before downloading your maps. Also make sure that the total memory required for the number of maps selected does not exceed the available memory on your Quest. If you try to fit more information into your Quest than it can receive then you are bound to have some problems. The Quests seems to have different memory specifications. According to the USA spec the memory is only 128mb, the Garmin site says 115mb and the box that my Quest came in says that it has 243mb.

No detailed maps found that support routing.need to download software on to micro sd card for garmin nuvi 205

The solution to the "No detailed maps that support routing" problem can be found at http://www.fixya.com/support/r6197735-no_detailed_maps_found_support_routing

To set up a map on the micro SD card you can follow the instructions on http://www.fixya.com/support/r5628920-update_garmin_satnav_maps Don't download directly to the micro SD card as it won't be recognised by your satnav. Download to the computer and install from the computer to the card as described at the above link.

When i turn my nuvi 255w on i get the fallowing message. no detailed maps found that support routing. the nuvi cannot be used without them.

It sounds like the map file is missing or corrupted or the route you want to use is just outside of the covered area of the normal maps.

If the unit is less than 60 days old you can update the map by connecting it with the usb cable to your pc and going to garmin and then running the update. Past that they want you to pay.You can download free map files for certain locations to your sd card. The localized maps ie just for one country or portion of it have much more detail than the stock internal map. You may need to look at purchasing one of those to get enough detail. I just used one for Fiji and it even had all the back streets on it. If you are in Canada or the US or Europe they will even have much more info.

I would call the toll free garmin support number and run the problem down to them. They can check your serial number and let you know the options. They should be able to tell you what map to use/get if thats needed.

No detailed maps found that support routing

reason being you may not have an SD card inserted with maps otherwise your maps have been deleted. try running the map update on the unit and it should reinstall the maps for you... if the SD card is not missing you may have a faulty SD card or SD card slot.

I bought a sat navigation (unknown) brand from ebay few years ago.it came with route 66 map installed on sd card.how i can upgrade the maps on it?

The GPS system sounds like it may be a Garmin brand and the mapset you're talking about sounds a lot like the "Mad Maps" for "Route 66". The Mad Map collection consists of specialized maps for particular use or interest. There are maps other than the Route 66 map in the collection available.

Depending on GPS model, you may be able to download new maps to the GPS or obtain new maps on memory cards from Garmin directly. The Route 66 map card may not be large enough to hold current US maps - new US maps require 1 to 2 GB of memory.

Contact Garmin Customer Support to determine which GPS model you have and which map products are available for it, below:

Activating Route 66 maps on my new Omnia

Gents,

It is quite simple

1. make sure you omnia is connected to the internedt

after insalling the route 66, go to

2. route 66 main menu

3. click on extras

4. scroll down and click on update
it will download and update

5 exit and go to extras again

6. now click on MAPs, you will find that Indi map would be seen as unlocked. select and enjoy

I have used many other gps maps in India but find that route 66 for India to be most accurate among them. but please note I was told that THIS IS AVAILABLE ONLY FOR 6 MONTHS ONLY. hope some one lets us know how to extend this.

Cheers
