    How did you fix this?

  • michael stevens May 09, 2012

I'm getting the same error, and have been for 3 days. I plugged my terminal into a DSL connection in another building and it worked fine. So I'm figuring it is something on my internet end, what did you do to fix your problem.

Tcp ip errors 1001 to 1009 are going to be communication errors regarding your isp equipment. The first thing you want to do is not just power cycle your terminal but also the router and modem or just the one if you have a combo equipment. Just like the commercials use to say when your online your router may just go down quietly. So after unplugging everything wait about 2 mins and plug back in the router/modem wait for the lights to become silent all except the online light which should flash. Then once those return plug in your credit card terminal and attempt a transaction as normal if your still getting the error more then likely its an issue with your internet processor and i would advise calling to see if there is maybe an outage

Veriphone "Bad mac"

is your verifone you are talking about is a pinpad 1000se or the creditcard machine (VX510, VX570 etc.) and bad MAC (message authentication code) and i believe if the machine is not encrypted right or the encryption was errased for some reason, bad mac will appear. I've seen some of bad mac error together with tamper error on VerifonePinpad because the battery is going bad. Replaced battery and load the encryption, pinpad works again. Our Verifone VX510 printed our detail report at closing last night, but the settlement failed multiple times. Now we are unable to use the machine to process a debit or credit card transaction because it...

This problem could have multiple causes. It sounds like you are receiving a settlement error, which are specific to each merchant services provider. You will have to call the merchant services provider so that they can look up the error message on their end and tell you what is causing the error. For example, the error message that you would receive if you use First Data would be different than the message you would get if you used Bank of America. Your terminal will not let you run any more cards until you resolve the settlement error. This is to prevent you from continuing to run cards in a corrupted batch, or a duplicate batch.

New terminal. Error message download needed no go variable

did you download the software from the website using a flash drive? I would give that a try. The drivers are located here... http://www.verifone.com/files/drivers/usb_installvfi_3_1.zip. The error you are receiving indicates that the application is not loaded onto the system. Hope this helps.

How can I solve the problem **tamper** in Verifone Vx510?

Verifone has a built in safe-guard against tampering. There are certain things that can cause the new Vx Series of terminals to display this error - from someone actually tampering with the terminal, to a physical drop or jarring of the terminal.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the ONLY way for a terminal to be unlocked when displaying "Tamper" is to send it into an authorized service center. I have many of these devices in the field for customers and have dealt with this issue a few times - unfortunately, that's the only way Verifone set it up for this error to be resolved.

Sorry for the bad news, but hope it helped!
