Proposed solution: uninstall Google Chrome Frame
I discovered the pb yesterday, trying to connect to Facebook on my XP SP3 Win32 desktop that runs fine, but on which I rarely connect to Facebook, so that I don't know for how long the problem has been here (days, weeks, but no more)
I struggled in various forums to find hints others than "use Chrome or Firefox" etc...
I finally found the solution hidden in:

After uninstalling Google Chrome Frame, I just had to quit IE and launch it again.

looking like you have some trash that needs cleaning in your cache folder. Have your browsing history cleaned and do not keep passwords in your system, as they may be vulnerable to theft.

This problem cant be solved. the developer of the game on facebook has abandoned it! they are total ******* tossres...forget facebook and try the ew google+ facebook does not give a **** about its users!

Have you tried looking the security code at the spam section of your mail account.
Sometimes, Facebook security code via email is not delivered directly to your inbox. Most likely to go to the spam section.

Please look for it.

Try this:

In Internet Explorer, go to Tools -> Internet options -> Advanced tab. Check "Disable script debugging," click "Apply," then OK. Then try it again.

It looks to me like something was coded wrong in a Facebook app. It could be an error which is passed over on other browsers, but the coder of the app trying to use a variable "big_pipe" made a mistake somehwere.

If you still own your email add that you used to register in facebook you can reset your password and have it send to your email here

You just need to insert your emailaddress, emailaddress or name.
If you still don't have success, try the more verbose search on https://www.facebook.com/help/contact.php?show_form=cannot_identify&flow=pw_reset or ask your friends you're connected with on FB for your username or similiar.
