My Hotpoint FDW60 dishwasher - I select new programme (normal 55 degree wash) and it defaults to 45 degree wash green light flashing and just making a whirring sound but nothing else happens. I have tried pressing the restart button, holding it in until I get the continuous sound and then restarting the programme but the same thing happens

Hotpoint FDW60 flashing eco light

if the eco light is flashing, this indicates that saftey float switch has activated in the base of the dishwasher usually caused by a leak, a polystyrene float activates a microswitch which cuts of the water inlet supply

Hotpoint dish washer aquarius

I had the same problem with my Hotpoint Aquarius the eco and fast light flashing, it would go through the pre wash cycle and stop.
I cleaned the filters etc; and it still didn’t work.
I turned the machine off and unplugged it at the mains,
I drained all the water, turned the machine on the side and took the bottom off, I removed the drain pump off the bottom (this was held on with a single screw after taking the screw out slightly turn it to one side as its like a bayonet fit on a light bulb also remove the wire connection and a rubber drain pipe)
Once the pump was removed I could clearly see the impellor it was very tight and I couldn’t spin it after a closer examination I could see a foreign object jamming it I removed this with a pair of tweezers, replaced the pump and put it all back together and it now works perfectly.
I hope this can be of some help.
Peter.
