There are no fuses inside a refrigerator so the problem is with the control board - either it no longer powers the ice maker or the power cables to the ice maker have failed. it's not something to do with the ice maker itself, you would still get some signs of life from it even if it would have been defective. You must access the control board and check its output for the ice maker - if power is getting out then it's a break in the wires. You haven't told us the exact model so i can't be more precise on how you will do that: the board is usually at the top of the fridge section. There is also a power board in some models, situated at the rear of the unit, next to the compressor.

Hi john_jaeg556,

It seems like your auger motor was shorted out. That is fairly common with this model because water will drip straight down onto the auger motor.

You should be able to replace the part yourself if you're handy. To access the part, you open the freezer door first. Get on your hands and knees and look under the ice dispenser area. There is either a 4" x 6" plastic cover you can unscrew to access the motor, or you need to remove the ice bin and remove everything from the top down.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Need to replace the water inlet solenoid

The Samsung side by sides and french doors have split systems meaning both freezer and ref have evaps. Your water reservoir could be frozen. They have DC heater that is attached to reservoir so it does not freeze, this could be your problem. The other problem that I have run across is the water line in the door can be frozen. If it is the door, you can check by locating where it enters the door, because it will have a quick disconnect. Disconnect water line and grab a cup and place cup under diconnected line coming from cabinet on the door and press or have someone call for water on fountain. Let me know if that helps. Thanks Logan.

The ice maker makes a loud racket unless the freezer door is open.

You have an object jammed in ice makers path. The freezer door has something on it that is pushing into the ice maker perhaps.

Walk in freezer solenoid not opening

Many Kenmore side-by-side refrigerators have an ice and water dispenser installed on the outside of the freezer door. The ice dispenser has a flap that opens to allow ice to be released, and closes after dispensing to keep the cold air inside of the freezer. The dispenser flap is opened and closed by a solenoid, that when energized pulls the plunger attached to the flap, opening the door. If the flap stops opening and closing, it is likely due to a faulty solenoid.

Ice maker not getting water

Probably the dual water valve (that opens when the ice maker needs water ) is leaking and the filling tube gets clogh with ice , or the valve doesn't work ,in both cases it has to be replace.

Kenmore Ice Maker

Sounds like a water valve problem to me. Force the ice maker to cycle. (turn it off and let it get cold for at least an hour then turn it back on). Test for voltage on the ice maker side of the valve. The valve is usually in the back near the floor. Just follow the water line. Another solution. switch the wires on the water valve. then try the water dispenser and see if it makes the ice maker fill up. See if when the ice maker cycles water comes out the door. If the ice maker causes water in the door , replace the valve, If door switch causes ice maker to fill up replace ice maker again.
