When I connect the TOM TOM to the car via a cable there is no sign of charging. However it could be charged through the computer.

TomTomApr 15, 2013 - If you only charge your TomTom while it is in use, it may not charge to capacity. To fully charge your TomTom, it is best to charge the device indoors. Most newer TomTom products can be charged directly through USB, simply by connecting the USB cable or dock to your computer.

hook it up to your computer for a few hours via the usb cable...then try it again. your tomtom car charger is only a trickle charger, its meant to keep a charge on your tomtom, and wont charge it when its dead.

One full charge will hold good for approximately 3 hours.If you got it in January, it is better to recharge it. There are two easy ways to charge it. I assume you have got two different cables with it. One connects directly to the car cigarette lighter/12V socket. The other cable can be connected to a USB port of a computer. Tom get charged while connected to the computer also. On the outside chance you did not get the cable or cannot find it go to this link below to get the cables.

Please note Tom charges through the same port (USB) as it connects to the computer, which is it at the bottom of the Unit.

You would be able to Charge the Tom Tom via USB Cable but it would take much more time as compared to a Standard Car Charger.

yes, your tomtom one can be charged via the usb cable provided with your unit.

you do not need to turn on your tomtom just plug it in for a few hours (tomtom does not recommend more then 6 hours)

try the usb cable to your. this is the recommended method to charge a tomtom when it wont power on. for reasons unexplained by tomtom they do not recommend the car or house charges.

plug it in via the usb cable to your computer for a few hours(make sure the green light is on and nice and bright) then press and hold the power button(this could take up to 20 seconds)

Yes, I have an old nokio phone charger with the correct connection and it charges fine using that. It will also charge up when connected via the USB cable to your Computer, obviously when it is switched on,

Battery's probably dead. If you're within warranty you can have it replaced by contacting TomTom. Otherwise, you can still use the device, you'll just have to have it always connected to the charger.
