The cable may have popped out of the head of the weed eater. Just take the lower piece and spin the cable and the weed eater head opposite directions it will eventually fall into place to be able to engage again.take a deep well socket and under it in the top and tap it in a little bit to eliminate the problem for the future.

That is called a quick-change shaft I believe. You need to take it apart at the connection and make sure that the two pieces on the inside of each piece of shaft are inner locking with each other. One piece of drive shaft should slip into the other.

If that doesn't do it, then you may have broke one of the pieces of shaft.

Good Luck!

How much oil do you use? in the mighty lite

Homelite Mighty Lite engines require the gas/oil ratio to be mixed at 50:1. That is 2.6 ounces of oil per gallon or 1.3 ounces of 2 stroke oil per half gallon of gas. I recommend using synthetic oil. It lubricates much better, allows the engine to run cooler and smokes less.

How do I install trimmer line?To a Homelite Lite 26vt trimmer. Can i download a manual?

The detailed instructions, plus diagrams are in your manual. You can go here to view it. You will need Adobe Reader installed on your computer. This is the closest I could get to your model.

I was given a homelite mighty lite 26VT and I can not figure out how to remove the spool to insert the string.

There is a threaded cap on the spool that can get very tight, but a pair of Channel-loc pliers usually does the trick to remove the cap. Getting the string to feed consistently is a trick that I have not figured out how to do...

Homelite 26vt Mighty Lite carb settings

Setting up the carb right on a trimmer is like setting one up on an RC gas operated car. It takes someone with a good year, and a lot of experience doing it. If youre new at it,youre not just going to be able to get it tuned, well you could,if you want to spend a few hours. Just take it to someone who does it,they wont charge you much and it will save you a lot of aggrevation.

I have a Homelite 26vt Mighty Lite that will only start when I dump gas straight in the carburetor after it uses that gas it will not start

you have 1 of 3 things wrong
1 you have pluged jets
2 you have a pluged fuel filter
3 you have a stuck float
4 fuel line is crimped

1 2 3 4 thats all it can be
preasurise the fuel tank by blowing into it when almost empty
this will as times clear jets
if fuel line kinked un twist it
best bet buy a rebuild kit for the carb and enjoy some time with a screw driver

Can not figure out how to restring

im pretty sure i have the same trimmer, take the spool off, take all the cord out of it, now look closely at the bumper, u should see an arrow, find the halfway and fold it so it 2 peices, dont cut it, and rewind the cord, ull see clips on the bumper thats for when ur finished itll hold the line back in place so u can put it on without hassling with the cords, once u get the bolt on and tightened, give those 2 cords a good pull and they will pop out of the clips and u should be good to go, if this doesnt help ya, there is a tutourial on fixing these on youtube.com
