Tip & How-To about Samsung RM255LASH Side by Side Refrigerator

Older Samsung water filter removal replacement (RM255LASH)

So I had to change the water filter in my Samsung RM255LASH fridge (with flex drawers) which is now 13 years old. All of the references online are too new to be helpful. Seems like I go through this every time I have to change a filter (which is obviously not all that often). Putting one in is covered (sort of) in the manual.... getting the old one out is not....

So here is the trick to getting it out if you don't remember... (This is for the filters that are in the top right side of the refrigerator compartment behind the flip-up door).

It does NOT turn (like the new ones as demo'd on the Samsung site or YouTube), or have a button anywhere, to unlock. Do not use a wrench to turn it as suggested for some online!

A: it still won't turn;
B: but something could break (and, yes, I did try to turn it).
You "simply" push it in and then pull it straight out. Of course when I pushed on it the entire refrigerator moved not the filter. More than once....

It seems to help if you turn the water supply off and drain it a bit through the dispenser (reducing pressure?). After a bit of wiggling and a couple of firm "taps" it popped in about 1/2 of an inch, released itself from what looks like a fairly complicated locking mechanism, and could be pulled straight out with some coercion. It was painful... but hopefully this will make it easier for you if instructions did not come with your new filter.....

(BTW: When it does push in and pop back, if you push it in again it may (should?) re-lock, so you need to do an "odd" number of pushes...)

I need to change the water filter in my samsung srs618dp fridge freezer. I have the filter but cannot locate the internal part in the fridge i need to change.

For Samsung side-by-side refrigerators, there are two possible locations. One is in the upper right hand corner of the refrigerator. The other is behind the veggie drawer.

To access the filter, either remove the top glass shelf or the vegetable bin. Turn off the water to the refrigerator. If no filter is currently in use, remove the cap. If a filter is in use, remove the old filter. Turn clockwise to remove the old filter. Save the cap to reinstall if the fridge is ever used without the filter. Note the date when you put in the new filter and place the sticker on the filter. Remove the red cap from the new filter and align the unlock mark with the filter mark on the filter housing in the refrigerator. (Looks like an unlocked padlock with the u part turned 180 degrees from the rest of the lock). Turn the new filter counter-clockwise 90 degrees until the lock symbol (closed padlock) lines up with the mark on the housing. Use steady firm pressure - it will be hard to turn. This ensures a tight seal. Turn on the water line and check for leaks. If the filter isn't leaking replace the shelf or the vegetable drawer.

Samsung support for the SRS618dp is here: http://www.samsung.com/au/support/detail/supportPrdDetail.do?menu=SP00&prd_ia_cd=2201&prd_mdl_cd=RS23DENS1%2FRAD&prd_mdl_name=SRS618DP&srchword=SRS618DP .

I hope this helps.

We have a slow water leak in our fridge. The water pools under the bottom 2 produce drawers.

On most newer fridges, there is a very shallow 'V' shaped collection channel at the back of the fridge just above the bottom drawers, this is for condensate collection. In the middle of this channel there should be a hole, this quite often gets clogged, and over flows, hence the water at the bottom of the produce drawers, clear the hole and it should cure your leak, worth checking every couple of months.

Samsung RF267 water tastes terrible. Filters changed twice and not helping

If new plumbing, system is flushing and may cause a bad taste or odd color.Has a food item spoiled?
Make sure that strong smelling food (for example, fish) is wrapped so that it
is airtight.
Clean out your freezer periodically and throw away any spoiled or suspect food. Place foods in airtight containers to prevent the transfer of odors. And also Flush out water hose from tap end to freezer with warm water And also clean fridge with wet cloth (with soap solution). And then clean with dry cloth. .Keep fridge door open after cleaning all compartments for 4hrs minimum, as fresh air could wipe out any bad odor in fridge. And then start using fridge. Hope, it's helpful.

We purchased foreclosure house that has a GE fridge tpx21prx-possibly 13 years old-no info but does it need filter for ice and water use? There is no filter inside fridge-does copper line need replacing and what else should we do?Thanks

This model does not have a filter for the ice and water, you can add an inline filter in back of fridge water line, they sell them at any hardware store, you dont need to change copper line unless it is corroded.
