When I take the trigger

I believe that the most popular roofing gun for professionals is the hitachi line of nailers. Hitachi guns are amoung the very few however that actually move the cylinder when fired instead of the headvalve. This is rather odd because it requires more moving parts. Your guns have a trigger pin/plunger (white plastic with small oring part # 878-121) that pushes on a urethane ball. This ball is potential cause of leaks. Make sure that the ball is perfect. Replace as needed. Most leaks around the trigger area are acutally coming from just in front of trigger which is plunger pushed by safety foot. Spray soapy water around trigger area and make sure where air is actually leaking. If leaking from safety foot plunder source of leak is actually orings inside of gun around cylinder. (usually oring part #876-161 that fits on the cylinder plate). Parts and parts lists are at www.toolpartsdirect.com. Good luck with your guns and post again if you have other question.

Air is coming out by the trigger and causing it

Remove the trigger by removing the roll pin and check that there is an oring installed on the trigger plunger. The plunger is a white plastic part and requires a small oring about 1/4 " in size. You can buy orings at Lowes Lumber in the plumbing department, about one dollar for package of ten. That should take care of leak when trigger is depressed. Good luck and post again if you need more help.

Nails dont always feed 1 out of 2

could be feed pawl problems e.g. broken spring, restricted movement or the piston is not retracting fully, either way I would probably try and rebuild (new o rings, thorough cleaning) this tool. You can buy a replacement o ring kit from Nailgundepot.com you will need to give them your model number for this kit. Let me know if you need more help.

NV45AB2 worked great a year ago.hooked it up last

if you havent used in a year the o rings could be dry and you can try and lubricate them, but sounds like it needs them replaced. You can try going to Nailgundepot.com and buying an o ring rebuild kit from them. It contains all the needed parts except for the grease to lube the o rings. Let me know if you need more help

Bostitch roofing nailer wont return driving pin but moves freely

If the driver moves on it's own then it's o-ring is shot, replace it. Pop the feeder cap and clean all the roof crud that's built up underneath it.Now you can see the feeder spring, check to see if broke or old and replace. The feeder plunger is air assisted so hook the air up and depress it, it should depress hard and pop right back up. If not it needs to be cleaned and new o-rings. If this doesn't work then it's a new feeder plate you need. good luck.

Pin to drive nails does not return

the piston that drives the nail is commonly known as a single acting spring return meaning air pushes the piston and the drive pin down driving the nail in and a spring is supossed to push the piston and pin back up to load the next nail the springs are not usaly very strong so lubrication could be the problem as well try using some "air tool oil " available anyplace airtools are sold do not use wd-40 or engine oil while these may offer temporary help they will come back to haunt you if a good oil doesn,t sole your problem then its "spring time" although they have lots of safeties built in when working with a problomatic nail gun please be careful high presure air risk of injection fast moving projectile again risk of injection Good Luck

The nails kick back and don't feed proper

Probably not enough air through the regulator to the gun. Is the tank rated enough for the gun? Is the regulator set high enough to allow the air into the gun's air feed line? Are the feed line or any of the connectors or the air passage inside the gun blocked? Any or all of these could be the problem.
Hope that helps. Best of luck! :-D

The nailgun only shoots the nail in halfway

The Hitachi nv45 series guns are lifetime guns and parts (parts available at www.toolpartsdirect.com) are not too expensive. There should be no air leaks for best results. If air leaks from the trigger area remove the trigger and white plastic plunger. Make sure that the plunger has oring and the ball that the plunger acts against is whole. If air is leaking from the boot around the firing pin then remove the head of the gun and pull off the cylinder ring and check the outer oring. (After you remove the head, the cylinder ring is the part that has two threaded pull points, the outer oring sometimes breaks causing leak) With the head off push the piston all the way down and make sure that the driver extends about 3/16 past barrell. If the end of the driver is wrorn to round shape, you can grind it square if there is enouth length left. If the sheet seal is good the driver will not pull out of the cylinder.(look at parts diag. to find sheet seal, it is below the bumper) If the driver easily pulls out of the cylinder then open the gun from the bottom and examine the bumper and sheet seal and replace as neccessary. If the driver will not pull out of the gun (thats a good thing) then pull up and to side enough to peek/look at the lower bumper to check for cracks or missing pieces. The driver oring should hold the driver in upper position. Check that the top edge of cylinder is smooth and seals against the vinyl part in the head. Use caution not to damage the top edge of cylinder. The oring kit for this gun will cost about $20, however you only have to replace the worn parts for good results. Let me know if your air leak is somewhere other than stated above or other questions. Good Luck

Hitachi nr90ad framing nail gun fires one nail then will not retract fully and dry fires. Have to push firing rod back manually.

Have you disconnected it from the air source and deep cleaned the nail gun? Sometimes even a tiny bit of dirt can block the rails the rod runs in. Once cleaned add a small amount of oil to the rod runners.

Hitachi nailer not working

Test the volts and amps of the battery after charging, then try to shoot nails then test again after the blinking orange light. Battery is failing, they only have a certain number of recharge cycles and are also governed by age degradation. https://www.google.com/search?q=hitachi+nailer+battery+problems+and+solutions ..

I put 10 drops of oil in my Hitachi pin nailer and it still doesn't set the pins all the way down .

It is possible that the oil you added to your Hitachi pin nailer isn't the correct type or that it has not been added in the correct amount. You should refer to the manual that came with the pin nailer to determine the correct oil type and the proper amount to use. If this does not resolve the issue, you may need to take your pin nailer to a technician for repair.

Hi, I have been stumped! I rebuilt a Hitachi

This is the Cars and Trucks section of Fixya. You might get more answers listing in another area of Fixya which more closely matches your device. All things considered, maybe apply air pressure and stick the unit under water in a utility sink or big wash tub. Air leaks would bubble like a hole in a tire tube.

I have 3 Hitachi benders VB 16Y and works only when it wants too. I plug in and press trigger and some times works and other times does not work , also checked the brushes and there is plenty left.

I know nothing about these tools but Hitachi produce quality gear that isn't usually prone to intermittent faults. If I was faced with your situation I would check the power cord for internal breaks and check the internal connections and then investigate the functioning of any safety device that might be incorporated into the design - such a powerful tool would surely have safety built in or modern legislation would never allow them to be used on site. It was just a sort of gut feeling as it seems to be the built in safety that fails on many tools...

Hitachi nailer doesn't fire, it has no leaks. When trigger is pulled there is no back pressure from trigger

I've had that happen before and what I found was one of the Staples or nails had misfired and wedged before leaving the gun. read the manual on how to get to it for that particular model and also it might be a good idea to adjust your pressure accordingly to keep it from happening again. If the force isn't set proper then a nail could Jam , block the mouth and not allow any other nails to exit. It's very easy to do and not that hard to fix once you've done it at least once. Good luck.
