Sounds like fuel flow is restricted.
Is the vent cap on the gas tank clear?
Pull the fuel hose off at the carb and let run into a container from the tank......is fuel flow good while filling a cup or two worth of fuel?
If not check filter at fuel switch or at hose connection at tank for restriction.
It takes about 2 minutes to use up fuel in the carb with engine running.
Sure sounds like a fuel problem.

You have to wind the coiled spring thing before you connect the new rope to it so that it will rewind when you're cranking. It can be tricky and an extra pair of hands will come in handy. Remove the engine cover and turn it over to access the rewind mechanism.

Check spark plug / replace

Do not use old fuel / more than 4-6 weeks old

It sounds like your carb might have some tarnish built up in it and the jets inside the carburetor are not letting enough fuel through. This is really common among generators and lawnmowers because they sit for so long unused. So what happens is, with the choke "on" you are reducing the amount of air allowed into the fuel/air mixture. As you move the choke to the "off" position, you are allowing more air into the fuel/air mixture but not enough fuel is not being allowed in the mixture so it runs too lean and stalls out. Also, don't use tools to clean the carb jets, they are usually made out of brass and a tool can scar the inside of them and create resistance for the fuel flow. Hope this helps!

I would look for the fuel filter. Blow it our. I know you have a new tank of gas, but you might want to empty it out and make sure the clean and put in new. Even with Stabil in the gas you might just have to much condensation in the tank

I am just a backyard mechanic but since the code says #5 misfire detected, and you've changed the plug, wire, rotor, and cap; something that is possible, besides a computer or sensor problem, is the a piece of carbon is coming loose and is heating up and the sensor is picking this up as the spark. Don't know how to test anything else. Maybe this will help reed

It has a cantilever snap action. Either the spring has detached, broken, disabled or unit is otherwise damaged. Heat, water, rodent, etc damage. Replacing the unit is most likely your only option.
