Camera not turning on

Remove the battery and charge it again. If you only can make just a few shots with the battery and it stops again, think of buying a new battery. Special when you have not used the camera for a long time, the second and third charge can be better. If not the battery is on its end of life.

Which card are you using the XD card or a compact flash card? If you have an external reader, confirm that the card can be read on a computer still, or if you have another card, try that to see if it works. It is possible that in reinsterting the card you may have damaged the contacts in the socket. More likely with the Compact Flash than XD card.Very nice camera, sorry to hear you having problems, hopefully it is nothing serious. Media cards can fail. Have you already backed up the pictures that were on the card? If so, try to reformat the card if you have a connection for it on your PC.

Why is my compact flash write protected?

The write protection is usually enabled by flipping an extremely tiny switch on either the side of the card or the adapter you may be using. Write protection keeps your data safe from being over-written.

What does the card error mean

Can be lots of things. Would have been handy, if you had told what card you are using. Your camera can work with CompactFlash, Microdrive and xD-Picture cards. If you did not insert the card(s) you are using, correct, or you removed the card in a wrong way, you could have damaged the cardholder, causing an error you probably can't repair yourself. The CF and Microdrive you can remove by pressing the eject button. The xD-Picture card you can remove by pressing in the card, and release it. The card comes out. Then you could have damaged the file system, by opening the card cover, while the card access lamp was blinking. What ever card was in, the filesystem can be damaged. Then you can have two cards in, Both, o CF of Microdrive and a xD picture card. Some settings are required for the camera, to know hat card it should use. If you have an Microdrive, the drive can be damaged, by a magnetic file, or the drive just stopped rotating. A micro drive is actual a miniature spinning hard drive. First check if the memory card is inserted correct. Eventually, remove it and check all contacts, on the card and in the camera. Then try formatting the card. If you think there could be important pictures on the card, put it in a external card reader and use a recovery program, to see you can recover the pictures on your computer. Programs can be found on the net. If you can't format the card, check if you have a Microdrive. If so, try to replace that with a CF or xD card. I hope something is to any use for you. Next time, please give us some more details. I know you exactly see and know what is not working, but we only can use your description. And only what you give us.

How to clear an sd card

The best way to clear your card is to format it. There should be a "Format" command somewhere in the menu system, probably under "Setup." Since you neglected to specify the model of your camera I'm afraid I can't point you to the exact location.

  • The Olympus Stylus 300 camera works with xD-Picture cards, including the 2GB Type M+ card. But it's important to make sure the camera can use that particular type and size of xD card by checking the camera's specifications and list of compatible devices.

My Olympus fe320 has a blurry screen & takes blurry pics. Is there a fix / solution to this?

Could be a steamed up lense or just dirt from storage. It is over 10 years old so possibly past its best by date but take it to a photographic shop and ask them for an estimate.
