The DVD burner in your DVD-VR is defective. Get it replaced at a service center.Is is not able to read the lead in lead out information from your disc. Try playing one of the disc you have written on another DVD player.

Actually this recorder doesn't have a tv or dvd mode - whatever it does (playing or recording on dvd's or tapes) it's transmitted to the tv.
If you need to switch from watching tv to viewing a disk then you must do the switch in the Source's menu from the tv - assuming that you have connected it the correct way, with a separate cable - there's a button just for that on the remote of the tv.

In the picture menu you should be able to adjust the resolution.

Try to change the input select on the DVD remote. Keep pressing it until you get a picture on the TV.

Store bought tapes with movie release have a copy guard protector imprinted in the tape preventing successful dubbing, especially the more recent movies.

maybe your DVD is performing its finalizing steps to make the recorded disk readable for players that's why the tray is not opening.try waiting for atleast a couple of minutes.

1/Turn machine on without disc inside
2/Press menu button
3/Enter region code (See below for list)
4/A highlighted 'region area number' will appear in the upper left corner (some players)
5/Press 9 to change the region number to multi-regional
6/Turn machine off
