No. Your original remote doesn't need codes. It is UNIQUE and should cover all features of your device. If won't work with new batteries, it has some problem and you should claim your warranty rights to repair or change it.

If you power on the unit, wait for it to display the "password [lock]". Then hold down the power button and menu button simultaneously, it will bring the keypad back up. But if you don't know your password and the default of 0000 doesn't work, you have to send it in to Clarion (for a nominal fee, I'm sure).

What car are you installing it in?

sounds like it lost power - if so the unit will lock itself when this happens

look for the owners manual and find the unlock code

if it is original equipment in car there should be a sticker in glove compartment with some numbers on it - that is usually unlock code

Reset the unit (tiny button on the front of the unit). What cable are you using? Have you had a Clarion dealer check it out?

The ones i see listed are not an exact model number match, however, in my experience have found that most harnesses will fit models from the same make... for example, when you swap a Sony deck you can replace it with another Sony deck with a different model number just by unplugging the harness from the deck itself and plugging it into the new deck.
