My husband and I just put this trike together and had a similar problem - the front wheel always turned the pedals and we couldn't figure out how to stop this. The manual for the trike is awful and very hard to understand. After spending a LOT of time analyzing the pictures and doing all sorts of weird things to the pedals, I found a posting on a website that said they'd had the same problem, but had removed and re-attached the front wheel and the problem was suddenly fixed. Sounds too good to be true, right? Well, we noticed that in one of the manual's pictures that the air valve for the front tire was facing the other direction - we'd actually put the tire on backwards. I took the tire off, put it back on facing the other way, and suddenly it all works as it's supposed to.

The thing is, you actually don't have to "do" anything to change from free to fixed and keep the pedals stable. If my daughter pushes the pedals around, they move around, and if she keeps her feet steady on them, the wheel continues to go around while the pedals stay put. It truly is automatic, which the diagram in the manual does a terrible job of conveying.

Yes Kettler sell it as a part email . It can also be weided by a platic welder / bumper repair shop. I repaired / reinforced mine with a large stainless steel hose clip.

There is a push button at the bottom of the handle bar (by the basket). It's usually silver. I usually have to push with a screw driver or something on the button instead of just my thumb because it's a really hard to push(just be careful not to push too hard if you do then you have to fiddle with button up the tube to put it back in place). Once that is pushed in you have to pull the handle bar up. This is the instruction manual for the happy navigator but it should still be the same: http://www.kettlerusa.com/airnavigator.pdf (its on page 11) I provided a picture of where the button is.

There should be a nut around the colum that comes up from the wheel and connects to the handlebars that is probably loose. If you can't get it yourself I have found that if you take it to a local bike shop they will fix these things usually for free or at a minimal charge usually less than five bucks. Take to a mom and pops type store you will get better service and like I said they will usually fix these things on the spot for free. hope this helps

Kettler has a great customer service staff. Contact them for further assistance. I went to their website and all it shows is to push up on the parental lock in front of the childs steering wheel to unlock it. They did not show any FAQ's pages with any info on what to do if it gets stuck. Hope this helps.
