Getting the M7208 to work

Nortel M7000 series are proprietary sets which require a nortel MICS, CICS, or an older 8x24, 6x16, or 3x08 in order to work. If you have the system, it maybe that the jack isn't activated with a system port.

Meridian M7208. I managed to reset the default

Press feature *3, press the button you want to program back to speed dial, and press feature 0.

I need an extra line to ring on my phone

First, you'll have to know what the line number is in the system for the new line.
To get the line port number, on the set/s that the new line appears on press feature *0 and the the new line.
The display should say for example L025:LINE 05.
The port number of the example is port 025.
write the port number of the new line down for future reference.
Programming2.gif is done on M7310, M7324 and T7316 sets.
To set up ringing you need to enter programming by pressing the feature key followed by **266344.When prompted to enter the password enter 266344.
The screen should say TERMINALS&SETS. The 4 top line/feature keys are now used for programming.
At the terminals&sets prompt, press the show key (top right arrow). The display should now ask for an extension number. Enter extension number you wish to program ringing on. Press the show key (top right arrow)
The display should sat LINE ACCESS
Press the show key (top right arrow) .
The display should say LINE ASSIGNMENT.
Press the show key (top right arrow) .
The display ask for a line number. press list
The display should say line 001: appear& ring
press next key (lower right arrow)til you see the line port number you wish to program
The display should say line 0xx: appear only
press the Chng key till it says appear & ring

press the release key when finished

Unable to transfer calls to a certain internal

The do not disturb might be active on the extension that your trying to transfer to.On the extension that your trying to transfer to, enter feature #85 to cancel out do not disturb.

The dial tone has gone back to the old rotary system

If your system is defaulting to pulse dialing , it sounds like an earlier 8x24 or 6x16. The memory battery is contained in the software cartridge and is fairly easy to change by first powering down the system, pulling out the cartridge and replacing it with the new one. You will have to reprogram the system one more time after start up ,but the should hold after that

How do I programme my buttons and how do set up

Forced Paging - how is it done and how can I stop it?

By programming. Handsfree Answerback set to "NO" will stop this.

Check with your system administrator or installer, someone with the system password as it's a programming function only.

It sounds like you have the wires hooked up wrong. Check both ends of the wire.

Sounds like it might be a telco problem. Do lines 3 ,4 work on the other phones?
Switch lines 1 and 3 to see if the problem changes.

If you have call log set up you can access the log log by pressing feature 812. To program that feature as a one touch button press feature *3, press the button you what to be call log and enter feature 812

Nortel M7208 eliminate intercom button

You have to go in to main system programming , It is best to use a M7310 phone if you have one . Press Feature ** 266344 when it ask for a pass word re-enter 266344 . First go to terminals & set and enter the ext you want to program press the show button then press the next button until you get to intercoms . press show then press the change button under the soft key until you get to 1which will be the new number of the icm on the phone . Now you can program a feature on it .

SCREEN NOT DISPLAYING NUMBERS

If you haven't already tried it, unplug the phone, press a couple of buttons, then plug it back in so it resets. If the boxes still appear, try adjusting the display contrast. Press Feature-*-7 to get to contrast setting and then press 6 or 7 to set mid-range contrast.

Nortel Meridian phone lcd blank on one side

Shounds like the screen has shifted and is no longer making contact with the membrane.
Unfortunatly theres not too much you can do with it short of sending it in for repair.

No message light

Have you tried a FEATURE #806

Feature 806 means Static time and date, but sometimes it shuts off the message waiting indicator lamp???
Not too sure why, but give it a try.

I have the Nortel BCM system and the problem is

I had that same issue before...

I turned the:
-> Autoset Relocate to On
-> then punched the set down on another port on the BCM system

I think it's just a bad port on the system...
The swap fixed my issue at my site. It was not a set problem, just something funny from the BCM.

Not too sure if you have the means to do that swap on the system yourself. But, it can be fixed.

Unable to use conference button

Here are the instructions for making a conference call on a Norstar system.

Conference [Feature] [3]
  • Establish a conference call between yourself and two other parties.
    1. Make or answer the first call.
    2. Put the first call on hold.
    3. Make or answer the second call.
    4. After the second call is connected, press [Feature] [3].
    5. Press the line or intercom button of the first held call.
    6. Press [Rls] to end the conference call
  • To remove yourself from a conference permanently (unsupervised conference):
    • Press [Feature] [7] [0]. The other two callers remain connected. (Some external lines may not support this feature.)
  • To put a conference on hold:
    • Press [Hold]. The other two callers can still talk to each other.
  • To split a conference:
    • Press the line or intercom button of one caller to consult privately while the other caller is on hold. To re-establish the conference, press [Feature] [3].
  • To disconnect one party:
    • Press the line or intercom button of the caller you want to disconnect, then press [Rls].
    • Press the line or intercom button of the remaining caller to resume your conversation.
  • To independently hold two calls:
    • Press the line or intercom button of the first caller, then press [Hold]. The second caller is automatically put on hold. To re-establish the conference, retrieve one call from hold, press [Feature] [3], then retrieve the second call from hold.
