you cant convert or import files .tod on windows movie maker.

I can't download my videos from my JVC GZ-HD7U into my PC using Magix Edit Pro.
Hi there,
It happens because you didn't install the quicktime plugin. once the quicktime is installed it will show the preview of the video so you can make your selection.
download the quicktime plugin:
http://www2.cli.co.jp/products/ne/update_qtc_for_gzhd7/qtc3e_update.htm
if not download the VLC player. it will nearly play every format. Choose your .tod file and play it on vlc.

hope its helps :) by the way i got the same camera :P

Unwanted movies
Dear JS,
Why should anyone have a problem deleting files & folders from the PC? The Jvc video files on your hard drive are just that.
There are 2 ways of deleting these video files. One, thru the Cyberlink PowerCinema. Just open the programme, select Back Up folder, then select the files (Tick each) and click Delete on the left menu. Two, direct delete from the Hard Disk. Go to e-drive, open MyWorks, go to videos, highlight the video files, click the Del Button on your keyboard, say 'yes'. End of the session, just open the Recycle Bin and empty it up.
I hope this solves your problem. However, if it is that you need to delete the files in your camera, there are options in its menu as well.
Regards,
Capt. S. Dutta

Continuous playback of files
me also, ok lets say that i already converted the tod files using powerdierctor express, i have converted already to mpeg, mpg. i have noticed that when i already starts editing my mpg clips, its looks like the video output is not good.
i found a secret or solution, about tod files, powerdirector5 express can't read it or open it right. lol, so funny, JVC budled this cyberlink softwares that can't relly help so much for editing movies, ok, copy first your movie from your hd7 using powercinema to your pc (TOD files). then use nero 9, for editing and fixing your movie it can read the tod files, and can play smoothly, not like powerexpress even do i have converted already the tod files to mpg, not smooth and the video output was not good,
ok thats what i found, the problem is im lacking transitions at nero, wew.

Lost files with camcorder everio gz-hd7
From my experience with Hard Drive based Camcorders.. you're best bet is to treat them like a computer.. use an application like Data Rescue II to recover the files from the camcorder.. once the files are recovered, reformat the HD on teh camcorder and you should be abel to start recording new footage again.

My mac OS 10.5 driver (disc) for Everio GZ HD7 camcorder?????
Hey Brett, unfortunately FCP and iMovie are looking for a device over Firewire or a capture card (whichever you have set up). The driver off of the disk is actually quite useless under any Mac Os 10. Video editing programs unless older or PC based rarely use USB for video transfer hence why none of the apps are locating the camera. Unfortunately you'll have to transfer the files via USB as data and use a program like MPEGStreamclip to transcode them to a file format those programs will understand. JVC has released updated software but it seems to do nothing at all. I hope this helps.
P.S. you may need the MPEG 2 Codec to do the conversions wether you're using MPEGStreamclip or another application.

Monitor Sound for JVC GZ-HD7
I've never heard of an adapter and after a quick google search and all the options voided the warranty, but if i were to make an educated guess... the easiest way and unfortunately bulky way of doing this would be to use the av jack and the cable that came with the camcorder, take one or both of the RCA stereo ends and pass them through a mic - line level converter and that should work, or you can use one of the stereo RCA ends and use a rca to phono adapter and then connect a headphone volume amplifier to that. Other than those choses, I see no other way to monitor your record volume with headphones.
JVC has been approached about this and they said they didn't include a headphone jack to reduce cost, but seriously. how expensive could that have been?

Im getting a Hard Disk error
ill try to be a little clearer
Disk is not full, i never wait till theend to unload my videos. I try to derfagment it every time I unload my videos.
This problem happened to me twice, luckly was able to recover.
I plug the camera to the USB port, computer sees it. I start copying files to my comp using the camera software, than everything freezes. I unplug the camera switch to the recording mode and it showes me "disk full error" , "hard disk error". At that time the computer stops seeing the camera.
I spend good half hour messing with it, turning it on and off and playing with buttons. After a while I get it to work and my recordings show up again.
I suspect a conflict with the software or possibly hard disk is over heating.
So far I was able to live with this problem.
Cheers

Remote not working
If you have a manual there usually is a master reset for your camera. Otherwise a menu item changed. Lastly I hope it hasn't failed on you.

Transfering from jvc-hd7 to computer
You should be getting .tod files, not .mov files. The resulting files are of the type MOVxxx.tod, where xxx is a hexidecimal number. You then convert the .tod files (for PC's only) to .mpg files with the Cyberlink PowerDirector software that came with your camera (on the CD).
Hope this helps.
