It can be done if you can locate the right one (figure average 200 plus for part) but if a issue like dots etc better to get a replacement light engine and be done with it.Sometimes a "cheap" fix is not really a good one as replacing the display chip will not cure all issues.

Optical light engine---some research will suggest to you the DLP chip but that part is not cheap and requires some skill to replace.research this set by model number with "problems" and you will get an education quickly.

If on the model/brand indicated here it may be the optical light engine.

since you didn't get any picture, does the TV bring out sound? If the TV does not bring out sound, then it means the TV is having a power problem.

The clicking sound most of the time indicates a bulged capacitor on the power supply board of the TV. I think problem is with the power supply board and not the bulb.

But more often bad capacitors causes problem on the power supply board. I do not think the power board needs replacement, rather those defective capacitors is causing this issue. Open unit up and take a look at the power supply board.You will probably see one or more electrolytic filter capacitors that are bulged up in the top-not perfectly flat like the others.

The value of these capacitors will be different, most likely they will be somewhere around-820 to 2200uF/25 V( or /10V sometimes)

You can replace them with same values but I would recommend the voltage rating to be higher(like 35V for an original 25V) for reliability purposes.

What happens is,these bulged top capacitors will cause a low and unfiltered DC voltage=main board will malfunction(the relay will keep clicking until the caps are holding enough charge to bring the voltage up over a threshold point).

You can buy these capacitors at any Fry's or Radioshack store or you can order them online at vendors like "mcmelectronics.com"(look for electrolytic capacitors). After replacing these capacitor(capacitors) most likely the normal operation will be restored. Or you can by a refurbished complete power board to save you some stress from www.shopjimmy.com.

Note: There may be also some other causes for this symptom ,like a defective T con board ,or main board,but the bulged top capacitors are the most common cause for this issue.

If you don't know about TV repairers, take the TV to the nearest repairman to fix the fault for you. Also, note that TV stores a lot of current, so wait a while before opening the TV back cover.

the volume control is increasing randomly on it's own because the volume button on the TV is partially stuck in, that is why its coming up occasionally. This same thing may also happen to the remote control of the TV.

Use your find to rub the buttons on the buttons on the TV, especially the volume control button. Do same on the remote and most definitely problem should be solved.

Error code '66' denotes Lamp did not turn On at P-ON sequence of no lamp inserted. There are two possibilities for the fault you indicates here. The fist one is damaged lamp. The second one is the fault with lamp ballast board. You reports that there was a 'POP' sound before the TV shuts down. So almp itself have the damage. But before replacing the lamp, the ballast aslo should be checked. It is a best practice to replace the lamp ballast along with the lamp. Just take the lamp out and check it. Try to re-seat the lamp, if that doesnt fix it it could be your lamp motor.

Check the Lamp Fan,defective Fan will do this and if it is OK, then Ballast board that connects to Lamp,it is what powers Lamp on.

The problem may be with the color oscillator of the circuit. Check first for swollen or leaking capacitors. Capacitors are cylindrical in shape and is black in color (color may vary) and has two legs soldered to the board. It may also be a faulty board based on the number of items damaged. You would have to need special tools to have this fixed or replace the board depending on the practicality.

the wd 57733 has sound but no picture and turns off on its own after a few minutes.
