LG 42LB5D 42 in. LCD Television - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Hooking up a DVD player to a LCD TV
Typically, there is no video out from TV. You would have to connect the satellite receiver output to the DVD recorder input and connect the DVD recorder output to the TV. Word of warning - digital signals (DTV coax or HDMI) from the satellite receiver carry copyright info embedded, which may limit what it will allow you to put on a DVD. Typically anything can be recorded on the hard drive of the recorder, but programs from subscription channels may not go to a DVD.

Tv over heats then turns off
This would be a shop repair in most cases----yes, some people (my self included) have resorted to a small high speed fan to locate the area that is getting too hot etc---if you find it the fan will prolong the operational time--the real reason is to find which board is bad which is how these sets get fixed---replace a board-----keep in mind that it is possible to change each and every board and to still have the problem------screen unit can be bad and that is fatal.
No sound with colored line on screen
If you have tried using different input devices, looked for loose contactsin power outlet, RC Jack, cable and connectors, the TV might need service.

No picture no sound when tv is on 42lb9df-ad
That problem is usually have 2 causes..Its either power supply board or main board..Please take this steps on how to determine the problem:1. Open the back cover.2. Check the power supply output...It should have 5vdc for the main board..12vdc or 16vdc for the audio and 24vdc for the back-light inverter..3. If those 3 voltage supplies have encountered voltage drop...The problem could be on power supply board..4. If the power supply output is normal..The problem could be on the main board...5. If the problem is power supply you should check if the capacitors are bulged on the top and try to replaced it..If you can't do that you can purchased new power supply board..6. If the problem is on main board there is no D.I.Y repair on that so you need to buy a new main board that fits to your TV..Hope this solution will be helpful..Thanks for using fixya...

Lg 47lb5d turns on but no screen, no sound, no
My solution would be to cntact LG and explain thatits only a few days out of warranty and they should offer a gesture of good faith to their customers in the form of repairing this under warranty. You may end up paying for parts or labour, but everytime this situation would appear in my workshop i would give the same advice, 99 percent of the time, LG supplies the parts and the customer pays the labour.
Also check to see if that model requires any form of software upgrade. Good luck.
All of a sudden my
There is a problem with the power supply of your tv. Try to remove the back cover of your tv then observe if there is a bulge up or leaky capacitor. The bulge up is that the top of the capacitor is not perfectly flat like the others and the leaky capacitor has a wet mark in the bottom of the capacitor. This capacitor causes your power supply to malfuntion because it cannot transfer dc output properly to other parts of your tv. It produces unfiltered dc output try to replace this capacitor but observe the proper position because it has a polarity. Note be sure to unplug the unit before you remove the back cover. Good day and best regards.
I have a LG 42LB5D 42" 1080 LCD television that
hi,
usually you can correct this issue with only a few system checks, dark streaks can be caused by damaged pixels on the screen, in which case you need to replace the TV.
Inspect where the dark streaks are on the television. If the streaks occur at the same place on the top and bottom of the screen, they are due to the formatting of a movie or television show you are watching. This is normal. Also, if the streaks appear on the left and right of the screen, they are due to the show being filmed in full-screen instead of wide-screen. This also is normal.
Change the input setting so you are viewing the contents of a different device. If the dark streaks are gone, you know they are due to the device connected to it. However, if the dark streaks remains no matter what input the TV is connected to, the problem lies with the television.
Inspect the cable connection. Oftentimes when connecting a computer to an LCD TV, you can have strange dark streaks across the screen. Use a DVI-to-HDMI cable connection when plugging in your computer, then press the "Menu" button on your TV remote, select "Picture" and chose "Square Pixel." See whether the image adjusts and the dark streak goes away.
Contact the manufacturer of your LCD television if the dark streak remains. This streak can be caused by a defect in the television; if the TV is still under warranty, you can have it replaced.
LG wont change channels with remote or manually

That would be a tv issue it sounds like it's not set to the correct input. Try the steps in the link below this should help with our equipment. As far as the DVD player is concerned try checking the connections and cycling the inputs on it. Hope that helps!
