If you feel comfortable taking it apart, I would check the wiring to the motor for starters. Motor could be bad even, you may need to replace the motor.

OK, I found the problem. The ribbon cable to the sonar board from the motherboard was out just a fraction of an inch. Aslight nudge moved it in just a little, but enough I guess, it works now.

The Apple iPhone has Apple firmware, it won't work otherwise.
