When I turn my brand new air purifier on on it smells like its burning or going to catch on fire is it supposed to?

That unit is a very heavy duty machine that uses ionization to clean air. There is a high voltage power supply that is used to generate ions. The unit can release ozone and that substance has a definite smell to it. If you have ever been near a copy machine or an electric motor that sparks, you would smell ozone. The concern is whether or not it is ozone. Ozone is regulated by the manufacturers to be held at a permissible level because at high concentrations it is an irritant and can cause respiratory issues by itself. The power unit for that air cleaner is on the top near the back and you can run the machine for a while to see if that area gets hot. That would be a bad sign. All the documentation is here: http://electronicaircleaners.com/f50f1032parts.aspx But if you don't trust the unit, take it or send it back.

Honeywell power supply F50A1017 not working

could be the switching board switch they fail over time capacitors you can tell by looking at them in most cases, diodes bit more harder but if there is any black or brown marks round them then theses can be faulty.. but if there is any yellow/brown colour round the capasitoes then they will have gone.

Loose Fins on Electronic Air Cleaner Cell

I would use hot melt glue to hold everything in place. The air cleaner works by charging the air particle at the front and there is high voltage on the plates. The polarity of the plate alternates where the first plate is positive, the second is negative, the third is positive, forth is negative, etc . With first wire in front charging the dust particle, the plate attract the charged dust particle to the plate to capture it.

Unit not working

You should also try rubbing the ionizing wires with 600 grit finishing paper first. If that does not work, you can purchase the cells individually from many vendors. But I would give the finishing paper a try first. The ionizing wires do funny things to silicone compounds, it usually results in the ionizing wires getting slighly glassified, or coated with silicon dioxide..

My Honeywell Type No. F50A

Yes you can run the furnace with out the electronic air cleaner for awhile.... It you are in a very dusty conditions than I would not run it very long a day or two....because you will not have any protection for dirty getting stuck on the evaporator coil or if you have a 90% gas furnace the secondary heat exchanger...and restricting air flow.... You can put in a 1" pleated air filter the same size as the total of the two cells in place of the cells till you can get the electronic working..... Sounds like either something big is caught across the cell plate or they are still wet and have not dryed out completely. Hope this helps.

Honeywell F 50 F air filter

take out the cells, they weigh about 8 pounds apiece. Make sure you remove both. Put the door back on and turn the fan in the furnace on. IF the light on the power supply comes on, then the power head is most likely good.

Then insert one cell at a time, individually. Push the single cell in all the way to the back, put the door back on, if the light is on, that cell is fine. If the cell does not come on, there is most likely a bent fin on the cell. simply bend the fin so it does not touch the other fins and you should be fine. Repeat this step on the other cell.

Make sure the door to the filter is closed, the power switch is on and the furnace fan is on.

Good luck.

I cleaned the cells on my Honeywell electronic air

Make sure the furnace or air conditioner blower is running.

Make sure the access door is firmly closed and latched. If door is not closed properly, an interlock keeps the air cleaner off.

The Honeywell electronic air cleaner constantly

It is normal to hear occasional snapping from your Electronic Air Cleaner. This occurs when larger particles are caught by the ionizer wires. Continuous snapping is not normal .Remove both the cell and check clean the bottom portion by using a vacuum cleaner attachment. If the snapping continues with the cells remove contact your contractor.
