A test record (with test tones) is a great way to adjust that, but otherwise repeated listening to a record will help you - make sure that the loud parts of a track distort equally on both speakers.

I am not familiar with this unit. However, I can't imagine getting the turntable to play is all that difficult. If the unit is new, did it not come with instructions? If you followed the instructions, and the turntable still does not play, it might be faulty. If this is the case, I would say return it or exchange it.

Are you using the charging cables that came with it? That is a type C. Are you securely attaching the charging cable? A loose connection would keep the battery from charging. If you had a low battery, you would see a red light. That you have no light at all suggests there is no charge left in the battery.
