Master Lock 5400d: Portable Select Access Key Storage Lock - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

Instructions:
Opening the key storage
compartment door
1. Open shutter door to reveal the dials
and the release button
2. Rotate dials to the current combination
(if the lock is new, the combination is set
at the factory to 0-0-0-0)
3. Press down on the release button
to open the door
4. Pull the door fully open
5. Add or remove keys
6. Close compartment door
7. Scramble the combination dials to lock
the door and conceal your combination (A)
8. Close the shutter door (B)
To set a new combination:
The initial combination is set at the
factory to 0-0-0-0
1. Open the compartment door
(see instructions above)
2. Push the reset lever left and down.
The lever remains in this position
3. Rotate dials to your desired combination
4. Push the reset lever, up and right, back
to the original position
5. Close the key storage compartment door
6. Scramble the combination dials to lock
the door and conceal your combination (A)
7. Close the shutter door (B)
To hang shackle model
1. Open the compartment door
(see instructions above)
2. Push the shackle release lever to the left
to open shackle
3. Pull the shackle up and out of the lock
4. Place shackle around door knob or other object
5. Close shackle to lock
6. Close the compartment door
7. Scramble the combination dials to lock
the door and conceal your combination (A)
8. Close the shutter door (B)
Reminder:
(A) The release button will open the lock
until you scramble the dials
(B) Keep the shutter door closed to increase
weather resistance and to conceal the
dials from view

Hi, Try setting the lock to the original combination and see if it will move then. Also keep a can of spray lube handy (and a rag) to give it a good squirt and free up any rust inside. Good luck.

Pull the body of the lock and the U-shaped ring away from each other to put pressure on the mechanism inside the lock. Pull the body of the lock away from its attachment, or, if the lock is not attached, apply pressure on the U-shaped ring away from the body of the lock with your fingers. Keep holding a firm, steady pressure. Step 2 Roll the dial closest to the U-shaped ring slowly, while keeping steady pressure on the mechanism. The dial will get difficult to roll over three consecutive numbers, and one of those numbers will click. You should feel and hear this small click, and that is the first number to your combination. Step 3 Repeat Step 2 with the middle dial, and then the farthest dial. Leave the dial set when you find the click, moving onto the next dial. The combination will reveal itself, letting you pull the U-ring away from the body of the lock.

Have 5400D Master Lock. Know combination, but it will not open. Can someone help me?

Check the MasterLock web site to see if they still offer to provide for forgotten combinations. Some years ago I got a combination for a standard rotary dial lock by providing the usual identification information plus a photo of the lock showing its serial number.

You have 10,000 combinations to go through. Best to cut if off and bring it some place comfortable to try out all of the combinations from 0000 to 9999. Or take it to a machine ship and have someone grind the thing open.

Take your lock if at all possible to a locksmith to avoid any service charges. Don't bother with the manufacturer as they will not give combos out for security reasons. Your lock will have a serial # that your locksmith can access and find out what your combo is. If you can't bring the lock to the locksmith check what their service charge is. It might be cheaper to cut it and replace it than to call the locksmith out.

Do you mean the studio plus? I don't think there is a super plus, neither is there a child lock but there is a keyboard lock. To remove lock press and hold the hash key, bottom right it should also have a lock symbol on it.

how do i get the box open . the box is 5400D portable key storage i'm a realtor

you will need to cut it off.or remove the door knob on the lockset.

I don't know if Master Lock will supply a combination or not but they can open it for you. There might be ownership issues that need verified. They don't know who's keys are in it and they don't know if the lock has been stolen.

Contact Masterlock.com and fill out the form, get it notarized and send it in for the combination to unlock it based on the S/N which is on the lock.(http://www.masterlock.com/faq/LostCombinations/). Good luck on this since Masterlock will end up finding something that will prevent them from giving you the combination. Its quite frustrating and NOT worth the trouble.2. Go to home depot. Buy a 24in bolt cutter ($22) cut the stem of the lock. and replace with a new lock that you can buy from home depot for $ 29.00. If you have a key that is inside the lock box that you really need, You will now need to drill out the combinations piece by piece and the door will pop open or send the lock back to Masterlock. They will retrieve the key for you and send it back.
