I used the method that you use to update the firmware.
Turn off the unit ,,, slide it to HOLD. Then plug into the USB.
Seems to work every time for me .. Hope you have the same luck.
Strange that it has always worked until now ... same OS .. no updates since then ... But at least I can access it.
There is no driver I can find in the software bundle CD.

If you hold the power button for 20 seconds it will shut off. I had the similar problem where I unplugged my Insignia NS4V17B frozed on the bluetooth initializing screen. I turned it off then back on and it is now working fine.

ArcSoft Media Converter

The Media Converter program that came with my Jazz DV150 runs for a bit then says that the conversion failed. I've tried using other programs, but I end up with a fuzzy movie with small colored bocks poping up around the edges. The specs page is not at all detailed. If I knew what they were more precisely (not all my mp3s play either) I think I could get everything to work fine but I can not seem to get any answers from either ArcSoft or Jazz. Could someone please help me?

Whenever I try to open the ARCSOFT Media Converter 2 a Windows message says the program has stopped working.

You will have to go to the website, and then register with the website - at some point it will ask you for a Promo code - check Rhapsody's website for details, since i believe the music svc that best Buy uses is Rhapsody; also the guys at Best Buy are generally pretty nice - they will probably tell you over the phone

I have 2 of these players and used them for the past year using Napster. Never had a problem. Since Napster tech support messed with some issues my computer no longer recognizes one of the players. It says MTP device. Suggestions?

  • Double click System, and then select the Hardware tab.
  • Click on Device manager.
  • Click on the '+' for Portable device and you will see "Insignia Video Player".
  • Right click and select "Update driver".
  • A Hardware Update Window will open, Check the "Install from a list or specific location" checkbox and then click next.
  • On the next screen select "Don't Search. I will choose the driver to install".
  • Click next and then you will see a window showing multiple drivers, Select the "Portable Devices" driver and you can select MTP or USB mass storage.
  • Select "USB Mass Storage Device" and click next.
  • XP will finish installing the driver and you MP3/video player will appear and your device will now appear as a hard drive(s) (if you have a memory card) on your system.
  • Windows Media Player and other application will now recognize your device.

there's a little rubber cover on the back just above the word insignia. use something sharp to pry it off. remove the small phillips head screw. grab the tabs on the sides and pull the back off. the two wires of the battery are connected to a small plug. unplug the battery and then plug back in. this cuts the power and acts as a reset. should solve the freeze problem
