This set has major power board issues...it would need replacing but don't expect a new board to last over a couple yrs, might make more sense to buy a TV that isn't made by Funai in China, those sets are very cheaply made and have a short life...Try LG, Samsung or Sony

Why doesn't it turn on?

Either because it is not receiving power or something is wrong with the power supply of the set.

32 in Magnavox tv model 32MF231D/37

An earlier post of the smaller model of this with the same problem said to remove the metal cover over the power supply.

I have the 26MF231D and it worked great afterward (even though you can't mount it)

Here is how you remove the cover.

Manavox tv won't turn on after power outage

If your LCD TV or monitor has stopped working, or is displaying one of the following symptoms, then it's a candidate for some new capacitors - Flickering screen - Screen image disappears after several seconds - Dim screen - Slow start - Power LED on, but no picture - Unusual colors and/or lines The primary cause of LCD TV and monitor failure is caused by faulty capacitors. You can examine the capacitors in your LCD TV or monitor and actually see if they are bad. If they appear bulged on top, then they need to be replaced. New capacitors will solve a host of problems in LCD monitors and TV's and will extend the life of your monitor or TV by several years. Check the cables, connectors and connections. Take it to a repair shop.

I have a 26mf231 Magnavox 26 inch tv. The screen on the tv just flashes over and over. Never powers up. I took out the power board and all the capacitors look good. Thanks in advance

How many times this standby/power light blinks at one time switch ON? Count it carefully. These blinks are fault indication, and known as blinking codes. From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON; you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside the TV. This will make repair easy. 26MF231D 37 Inch. Green Blinking Light - will not

These blinks are fault indications, and are called blinking codes. For Philips brand TVs, we cannot count these blink directly; there is an other way to count these, and should be converted to error codes numbers. If you wish to get more details about how to count these blinks to Philips brand TVs, check the link sited here. After converting these blinks to error codes, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside the TV. Check this link. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Selecting the view option, either to Mosaic / Time slide, can be selected by the drop-down list, at the top left of the display window, will make surf easy. You can also do a search, by type in the brand name/model number/IC used, in the search box at the top right of the display window.

I can't get my tv to turn on... nothing but blinking red light

Dont know if this will work for you or not, but my brother gave me his because of the same problem. It would power up and a green light would come on, then after 10 -15 seconds it would change to a red blinking light. I plugged a usb cable into the service port on the side and left the other end unplugged. Then plugged the tv back into the power. i took a small screwdriver and ran across the contacts in the end of the usb cable until both the red light and the green lights came on. I did this several times listening fot the clicking noises in the TV. after doing this for approx 20 seconds, i pressed the power button and the TV worked fine. 5 days now and no problems. Only thing I can think is I somehow reset the software and now it is working fine. Hope some of you can figure this out and give it a try. if the TV is just sitting, you have nothing to lose

If you have tried using different input devices, looked for loose contactsin power outlet, RC Jack, cable and connectors, the TV might need service.

TV Powers off after 30-45 mins

All you need to do is remove the back cover, then remove the metal cover that covered the power supply. Watch tv w/o cover, it won't shut down again. Try it and post here if it works.

After 3 to 5 minutes

I had the same problem. These LCD TV's are made not to last there should be a recall on all Flat plasma and lcd tv's like they do cars.
Anyway here is what i did but mind you you have to have a bit of imagination. i removed the back cover then remove the metal casing covering the main board and power supply. Now here is where the fun biggings with a dremel or rotaty tool cutout the metal plate to the size of the power supply rectangular but leave the part that mounts the brackets to the wall. Now using the metal plate mounted on the back cover use to screws on the back to support it. and mark the size you cutoff the metal plate to the plastic on the cover now remove the plate and cutoff the plastic you just marked off get a metal mesh and glue it from the inside of the back cover hot glue will do now assemble everything back and it works as this will provide a nice vent to let heat out. manufactures do this purposely so you have to spend your hard earn money. Please let me know how it turns out thanks
