yes it is very good to have a transformer for your pc and most specially to your monitor...it will prevent to much current that may hit your computer...

but for me i suggest that if you are willing to buy much reliable unit.. you can buy a ups (uninterrupted power supply) it is very useful most specilly if you have experience power failure in your location it will give you as much as two hours power of your computer...it is like rechargiable battery....you can finish your work even if it is brown out..

larry946, Sorry guy... Your power supply is not OK!!! I'm talking about the one inside the lcd monitor!! It seems as if it is detecting a "FAULT CONDITION" and then proceeds to go into "partial" or "full" shutdown mode, trying to avert a catastrophic, nonrecoverable failure. e.g. sparks smoke, fire. Partial = black screen with data still visible when flashlight held 1 inch from screen. Full = black and blank screen. What will you do now? The only good thing you told me was "WORKS GREAT FOR A FEW SECONDS" !!! That makes it a good CANDIDATE for a low cost repair if you do a DIY fix. If StarLogic warranty has expired and they don't have a "cash+old unit" swapout program for a refurbed unit, you will need to explore all your other options. Read thru my FIXYA profile and you will soon discover that your StarLogic unit is no different than any other CCFL backlit LCD monitor.
