Can't find State or Province
The C550 does support USB 2.0 so data transfer of the Maps was most likely faster. The newer USB drivers from Garmin is most likely USB 2.0 compliant. Perhaps they didn't fully test it for USB 1.1 Anyway it's working for now. Usually I go to setting Map, Map info to verify that the upgrade was successful.

I bought gps at pond shop
Return the unit to the pawn shop. This is a PIN put in by the original user just in case it gets stolen. If the original user sold this to the pawn shop they would of removed the PIN or provided it to the pawn broker. If it was stolen there is nothing you can do but throw the unit out if the pawn broker will not help.
Cheers

Don't remember my pin
The only ways to unlock a PIN locked Garmin are to enter the correct PIN number, or take the unit to the location at which the PIN was initially entered. Your only other option is to send the unit to Garmin.

Unlock
A Master Reset WILL NOT reset the PIN. Your only options for unlocking a PIN locked Garmin are:
1 - Enter the correct PIN
2 - Take the unit to the location at which the PIN was originally entered
3 - Send the unit back to Garmin.

Hi I have a GARMIN WHere2 since I got a rental car
Hello,
The Garmin Lock (anti-theft feature) security feature has been activated.
Going back to the security location will unlock the unit but in order to reset the pin code, the original pin code must be input.
You may want to call the rental company and ask them for the pin code.
To unlock the unit, it must be sent back to Garmin.

I forgot my pin and
The pin can not be reset. The code
prevents the unit from being used if it is stolen and the code can only
be rest by calling Garmin and it may have to be sent in for repair. They
will require proof of ownership. I will attach a link to Garmin
support.

I am thinking of purchasing
The pin is a security code made by the previous owner and is registered at Garmin. The unit would have to be sent back to Garmin to be reset and re-registered. Be careful the GPS was or could been stolen. Thanks for using FixYa

Welcome to FixYa!
Here's how to reset Garmin Street Pilot C550:
1. Remove the front plate of the c550 by sliding your finger under the groove in the plate below the Garmin mark on the plate.
2. Push the now-exposed reset button. The reset button is located on the same side of the c550 as the power cable connector.
3. Plug the c550 into an external power source to restart the c550 after you have reset it. The factory default settings will be restored.
Thank you for using FixYa.

My mic rophone seems not to be working .? when i
Honestly I had the same unit as you do now and I had the same problem you are having. Your better off getting a good blue tooth headset like Jawbone or one of the others that are on the market today. Also while your on your phone you loose the feature of the voice to tell you when to turn and to me I didnt like that either.
I hope this helps you out, if it does please leave me some feed back.

I replaced the battery, and
Hello,
Yes, you can use super glue to reattach the cable. Get a super glue and that should do the attachment. When you apply the super glue, put a little sand and this will make it form like a rock. This will put the cable back together.
I hope you understand the above.....
Good luck.

How do you troubleshoot if the garmin gps suddenly
Try a "Master Reset" on your StreetPilot c550:
Power the StreetPilot off (ensure that it is not connected to external power)
Touch-and-hold your finger in the lower right corner of the Touchscreen...
Power the StreetPilot on...
Continue to hold your finger there until "Erase all user date?" appears...
Remover finger from the Touchscreen...
Touch "Yes"
If this doesn't work check to see if your item is still under warranty. If not I can provide you with a place that fixes gps' relatively inexpensively. Hope this helps.

My battery doesnt work but
Hello,
First, since you are aware that the battery for your Garmin is defective, I hope you know you can replace the battery. If you need a battery replacement, then you can let me know so that I can direct you in getting the battery.
Second, try resetting the Garmin by follow the below procedures. Resetting sometimes put the unit back in order;
Performing a Standard Reset
1. Slide the power switch all the way to the left (with the Nuvi's screen facing you).
2. Hold the switch in the position for at least eight seconds.
3. Push the switch to the right to power the Nuvi back on.
Performing a Factory Reset
1. Turn your Nuvi off by sliding the power switch to the left.
2. Press your finger against the bottom right corner of the touchscreen. Hold your finger in this position.
3. Slide the power switch to the right to turn the Nuvi back on. Continue to hold you finger against the screen until you see the factory reset prompt. Tap "Yes" to perform the factory reset.
If resetting doesn't help, then you will have to update the GPS. Updating reinstalling the software on the GPS and fixes any hanging or malfunction on the Garmin. Follow the steps below;
1. Plug one end of the USB cable into your GPS and the other end into your desktop or laptop computer. The GPS device will load the appropriate driver automatically, and a message on your GPS tells you that it is connected to your computer via USB.
2. Open your Internet browser of choice and type in the following web addres: "http://www8.garmin.com/support/collection.jsp?product=999-99999-27 "
3. Download the appropriate version of the software for your computer (Windows or Apple) and Install the WebUpdater by following the wizard (accept defaults).
4. Click "Start," "Programs," "Garmin" and " WebUpdater" to update your firmware and your maps. Periodically check and make sure your software is current.
If non of the above helps, please let me know so that I can direct you further.
Good luck.
