Have it serviced. It cost me $250 to have a pro do it. Also, check the timer (the dial is hidden by a sliding cover on my unit). My husband cleaned it himself a year later and he took it apart to do it and it works much better now. When he opened it up, it was full of calcium deposit and dust. He told me he did not think the unit had been cleaned properly by the pro.

ERR - the tray full light means that it should be emptied, not filled.That tray is the condensate from the cooling process that a window unit would drip outside. Since yours is a portable unit, it collects it and alerts the user when it is time to empty it.

The burn smell is the fan motor cooking. I have the same unit and upon strip down the motors windings were fried. Now that hard part of finding a replacement.
