Hi, I used to work in Best Buy and one of the key things about rear projection TVs and the reason they push those service plans on you is that the tubes/colors need to be calibrated each year. You can do this yourself by checking out the following website:

55VS69 DLP projection TV, now 30 months old (Best

you need a light engine, possibly covered under a recall, please call up hitachi..... there was a person whom i know with a similar problem and hitachi agreed to cover the cost of the light engine..... they would still try to put the labour charges on ur head but dont relent..... this is a common problem with hitachi....
please go through the below posts in fixya with a similar issue....
http://www.fixya.com/support/t555156-hitachi_ultravision_dlp_projection_tv
http://www.fixya.com/support/t639809-hitachi_50vs69a_abd

The part is about $600

Hitachi has resolved the issue in recent models by installing a customer clean out filter on the back of the engine, they recommend you clean this filter with warm water and let dry every 6 months if you are a smoker every 3 months.

They also installed 5 other filters and ported the engine to allow for the heat to escape more evenly, what causes the issue is the orginal engine only had 1 filter that allows air in and out of the engine so once the filter got a little cloged the set would run so hot it burnt the plastic coating on the optics.

But call Hitachi they should be willing to cover the cost of the engine,

I've replaced the bulb in my 55vs69a Hitachi and

It is always possible to get a bad lamp. Especially if it was not a Hitachi lamp assy.
If the replacement lamp was a generic, I would not trust it. Most all cases with a dim picture or dimmer picture after replacing the lamp have been the lamp it's self. Rarely have I seen the Ballast cause it.
Hope this helps,

Error 161-10

Ok! You wouldn't believe the thing I went through to get a respectable answer to your query! First, I DL'd your models user manual... Nothing! So, I called 1-800-Hitachi! The manual said it was open 24-7! Nothing...(Business hours are from 8am to 5pm est) Then I went to Hit's web site www.hitachi.us.com. Nada! So then I did a world wide search of your error code and I finally got an answer! ...In Japanese! So then I had Google translate it by copy & paste in the Google window. But all it came up with was a eerily complex flow chart of something called "Input Format Hierarchy"! which, as you ALREADY know, is saying you may not be getting everything out of your cable! AARGH!
So then I called a friend at Tele-Vue in Denver, CO., but he, also, was stumped. He speculated though that it may be that your TV is looking for a certain audio channel that your cable isn't providing.
So, here's my best advice to you. Call Hit during bussiness hours and that will get your ball a'rolling!
I really did try my best to get you an answer. Sorry I fell short. Who else would do ALL that for free! LOL! Have a great day, bro!

I HAVE A BLUE SCREEN

1] Clouds of digital "mosquitoes" surround fast-moving objects. This is a picture artifact (or distortion) that can occur as a side effect of digital television-signal compression.

THE FIX: Don't worry, your set is fine. The problem originates at the broadcaster or at your cable/satellite provider. The good news is that motion artifacts should be greatly reduced in the next few years as compression technology improves. The bad news is that if you want to fix it now, you'll need an outboard digital noise processor such as the Algolith Mosquito HDMI, which costs $3000.

Hitachi tv shuts off . When I turn on the TV iMessage says please wait then turns off two seconds later.

That sounds like it is not booting properly. I would check for correct power supply opperation and if not that, look for a software reloading procedure in the user instruction manual.

Change input on Hitachi LCD TV model LE65K6R9 without remote?

I'd unplug/disconnect the Roku and after 30 seconds try the control button on the back. If you can change the input do so, then plug the Roku back in. Until you use the input button on the back to change input to Roku, you should be able to use the other buttons on the back to control the TV. If this does not work, unplug both the TV and the Roku. Wait maybe a minute, then plug the TV back in and follow the above instructions. Here are other alternatives: Using physical buttons: You can find the physical buttons on the left or right back side of the Hitachi TV. Using these keys, you can change the input, adjust the volume, or turn on Hitachi TV without a remote. Press the Input button located at the back or side of the Hitachi TV. The list of connected sources will appear on the TV screen12. Using external devices: Connect a wireless keyboard or mouse to your Hitachi TV and change the input1. Buy a universal remote: You can buy a universal remote to control your Hitachi TV and change the source.

How to remove small popup bottom left of Hitachi smart tv screen.

A little popup that appears in the lower left corner of your Hitachi smart TV screen may be related to one of the TV's settings or capabilities. You can attempt the following actions to get rid of it: 1.Investigate notifications: Smart TVs occasionally show notifications for different events or upgrades. If there are any notifications, look for them and then clear them by following the on-screen directions. 2.Applications and Inputs: Make sure all programmes and inputs are closed. The popup may occasionally be connected to an input source or app, which can be closed to get rid of it. 3.On-Screen Display (OSD) Off: There might be an OSD option in the settings menu on Hitachi TVs. Try disabling OSD or changing its settings to see if it gets rid of the popup. Verify any software/firmware updates: 4.Make that the most recent firmware or software upgrades are installed on your TV. Pop-up windows may appear as a result of faults in outdated software. Look for a software update option in the TV's settings menu. 5.Firmware Reset: You can conduct a factory reset on your TV if the problem persists after you've tried various troubleshooting measures. The default values for all settings will be restored as a result. Make cautious to back up any crucial data before doing a factory reset because doing so will also remove any customised settings and data. 6.Message Hitachi Support here: If none of the aforementioned fixes the problem, it's a good idea to get in touch with Hitachi customer service or refer to the TV's user manual for detailed instructions on how to get rid of the popup. Regarding External Devices: 7.The popup may be related to any external devices you have connected to your TV, like a cable box or game console. Make sure that these gadgets are operating properly and that the settings have been changed as necessary. Keep in mind that depending on the type and software version of your Hitachi smart TV, the precise processes and options may change. For instructions unique to your TV model, consult the user manual, or go to the Hitachi website for further help options.

Hitachi LE42S704 none of the HDMI ports work, need to update (i think)

Are you getting the various HDMI inputs on the screen but it acts like nothing is connected? We have repaired hundreds of TV's with no HDMI signal over the years and have never had an update correct this issue. There is an IC close to the HDMI input jacks (U501) that decodes the data, that's always been the defective part. You can order the part and change it but you will need advanced soldering skills and the equipment to do it, I'd recommend replacing the main board if you can find one.
