My electric dryer runs but no heat.

Hello there:
There's no heat If your dryer doesn't heat, check these: Power from the house Check to see whether there's power getting to the dryer. Is it plugged in? Check for blown fuses or tripped circuit breakers--your dryer uses two fuses or circuit breakers. The dryer could tumble but not heat if only one of the two fuses is blown. If you have circuit breakers, one of the two circuit breakers can trip, even if the two for the dryer are connected. Heating element Often a dryer heating element burns out, but doesn't trip the circuit breaker or blow a fuse. The heating element is simply a long coil of special wire. You can check it for continuity with an ohm meter. No continuity means the element is bad and you need to replace it--electric heating elements aren't repairable. Thermal fuse On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse--which is about an inch long--is usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing. If the fuse has blown, you need to replace it. (You can't re-set it.) Wiring A common problem is for the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, to burn and break its connection. Because the dryer can still tumble with partial power, the connection may be only partially defective. You may need to replace both the power cord to the dryer and the terminal block inside the dryer that the wire is attached to.
I will post the pictures of the heating element in a seperate post
Best regards mike

We thought our dryer belt was broke...after buying

Unfortunately your motor is bad, which is most likely why the belt broke.
Try to turn the spindle on the motor by hand; It should turn freely. If it doesn't, it is frozen and needs replaced.
Replacing the motor is a bit involved, but since your in this deep....
You can order the replacement motor from www.searspartsdirect.com or call 1800-252-1698.
I can help you more if you give me the make and complete model number. Heres info on how to find it:
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getModel!retrieve.pd?modelNumber=+86673100&pathTaken=partSearch
But...generically you can:
1. I'd take the drum completely out to give you room. Remove all wires connected to the motor, noting were they go. Usually there is one wire harness and a ground to remove. That's about it. 2. You'll notice there is a metal clamp that is slotted on one end and is snapped on the metal tab on the brace under the motor. Best way to get off is with flat-head pliers (regular pliers will work). Grab the end of the metal brace perpendicularly and bend down, using leverage to pop the clamp off the tab. It should pop free, releasing the motor 3. The other end of the motor should insert into the fan blower assembly. You'll have to release it from the back. 4. Take the back panel off then remove all the screws from the fan blower assy. 5. Once inside you will see the fan. It will be attached one of two ways: A. With a odd looking metal clamp of sorts that hooks on the motor spindle on both sides of the fan. There is a release bolt to loosen up. DO NOT REMOVE THIS BOLT ALL THE WAY. It is difficult to put back on. Once clamp is removed, pull fan off. B. The fan screws off, most likely in a counter clockwise direction. Easiest way to get fan loosened, believe it or not, is with a tire tool. A big socket will work. Pliers are not recommend because the fan is plastic and will chew up or wear down easily and become impossible to get off. Ideally, have some one else use vise grips on the other end of the motor, the spindle. It's locked up, but it may still spin as you try to remove the fan. If it is just use, hook the vise grips on tight and lodge them against the bottom or the side so they won't let the motor turn as you turn the fan. Once loose, remove fan. 6. Once fan is removed, the motor should be free. Put new motor in place and simply reverse these directions. Ideally, you would want to test the motor before you put EVERYTHING back together. Once the motor is secure and wired up, put the front of unit loosely in place and connect the door switch. Carefully plug in, standing clear of wires and motor. Start dryer. If motor runs, but it all back together. If it doesn't, there may be an interlock switch associated with the tension lever. Have someone hold the tension belt down until the switch makes and turn on. If it's just you, use your foot to hold down tension lever. If drier works, put everything back together.
I think this should solve your problem, but if it doesn't work, I can troubleshoot further with the make and model number.
Good luck. Let me know. If this helps you, please leave a testimonial for me. Thanks! G

Dryer had built up lint, blew fuse, now will blow

if its heated electrically, not by gas, then it sounds like the heating element has shorted to the case and this would blow the breaker

Stopped heating up...

ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DO ANY WORK ON IT.
Check to make sure you are getting full 220 Volt power to the dryer, if you are then:
Sounds like your problem may be with the heating coil. Remove the back of the machine and try to
locate the air duct going from the blower to the drum. Normally inside the air duct you will find
the heating coil and the thermostats/thermistor. Once you have located the heating coil, remove
the two wires from it and check the coil with an ohm meter across the two terminals of the coil.
You should read continuity across the terminals, if not you will need to replace the coil as it
is faulty. If the heating coil is ok, then: You can check the thermostat/thermistor by removing
the two wires and taping them together with electrical tape. If the coil heats up then replace
the thermostat/thermistor. DO NOT LEAVE THE WIRES TAPED TOGETHER AFTER THE TEST. This could cause
a fire, as you have removed the safety of overheat from the machine. I will include these two web
sites for parts and further help:
http://www.partselect.com/ http://www.appliancepartspros.com/index.aspx
Both also have chat assistance 24/7.
Good Luck, Hope this helps

Loud rattling noise during operation.

Check inside the drum for loose plastic bars that help tumble the clothes. If you can shake them, open the cabinet top and tighten the bar screws on the outside of the drum. If any appear stripped and don't tighten, remove the bar from the machine and inspect for cracking around the screw holes. If found, replace with new parts. Otherwise, try breaking off matchsticks in the holes and see if the screws will tighten. The top is either held on with screws in the back--then slide the top backwards to remove, or there is a pair of spring clips in the front corners that require a thin putty knife to be slid into each clip and pushed until the clip releases. The back end of the top usually has plastic hinges and won't come entirely free of the cabinet. Hope this helps!

Pay particular difference to the 3 and 4-wire configurations. There is a difference in how the neutral and ground wires are terminated. If you have questions, please post back and let me know. I receive email notifications to all your comments and/or questions. I hope this helps you.

It shuts off after 5 seconds

There is a failsafe that turns the dryer off if the load is too high. If it is overloaded or jammed or if this part is faulty, it will turn off the dryer.
