More than likely the compressor is bad. A lot of times technicians will change the start device on the compressor and if it runs for a minute they are satisfied its fixed. The proper way would have been to monitor the amperage drawn by the compressor and then there would be no doubr if it was start device or compressor. sounds like the compressor is trying to start.Shut it off and let the compressor cool then try again

you do not leave them alone they may have refrigerant flowing through them. look in your owners manual/instructions for more info.

Also an refrigeration appliance technician would know the wiring by heart and take 20 minutes maximum to work it out.
