MY v5100 humidifier keeps reverting

First off, you should not have lime buildup if you used distilled water and NOT TAP Water. If some build up occurs, cleaning should be done using VINEGAR solution. Check the float valve and gaskets. Replace any filters. Clean nozzles or exit ports where mist is spewing from. These units are low cost devices and repairing them is not economical.

Brother, I think you're OK here. I run a couple in my shop, both cheap from Walgreen's, and I'd be ruining the suckers once a week if they didn't have auto-shut-off. Your's should too. Sounds defective.

Produces a ton of white dust... Why???

Your V5100N ultrasonic humidifier generates a fine mist by vibrating the water at an exremely high speed. The water doesn't actually evaporate until after the water mist is in the air. As the tiny water droplets evaporate in the air, the calcium and other minerals settle on your floors and furniture.

Humidifiers that evaporate the water in a filter wick, or with heat, do not generate dust because the water evaporates inside the unit and the calcium is trapped inside.

You can avoid the dust problem with your humidifier by using distilled water. Distilled water is available in most stores that sell bottled water in gallons...but be sure to choose "distilled" water, not "purified" water. Try the distilled water in your steam iron also...if you have one. It will last longer.

Build up or busted?

more and likely it is calcium build up on the unit. especially if your using tap water. even if you cleaned it before putting it away for the season the build up can happen. if it's on the heating coil you need to get like a toothbrush and some vinegar water and lightly scrub the coils. now as far as the tank. let the tank soak in vinegar and water for about a half hour and then wash thoroughly. the portions is one cap full of vinegar per gallon of water.

Why does my humidifier make the floor all wet

You may be over filling the unit. Take the refillable water tank out and with the power removed try to remove all the extra water where the tank goes. check for anything that looks cracked inside the unit the best you can. If the tank is seating properly it should not leak. If it is filled properly it should not leak.
