just visit canon website. all drivers for there software should be there for you to download.

The 3 beep error is a prompt that no print head is installed. The error is occurring because the printer no longer recognizes that a print head is installed. Normally , this is due to a defective print head. If you have replaced the print head with ONE YOU ARE CERTAIN IS GOOD, then the problem is in the printer. Try taking a cue tip soaked in isoprophyl ( rubbing) alcohol and cleaning the contact strip where the print head installs. The part in the printer. The area will feel flexible but you can clean it safely. Let the alcohol dry and try the print head again. If you still have the error, the only solution is a full service that involves replacing a major part of the print mechanism.

Try some of the following possible problems:

1. Make sure the color cartridges are installed correctly.
2. Make sure the cartridges are not expired. There should be a date on the sticker on them.
3. Make sure that the cartridges are clean. Sometimes the ink can build up on the cartridges and stop ink from coming out.
4. Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Printers and Faxes. Find your printer and right click, then press Printing Preferences. In the options there make sure that color is selected.

Canon printers are well known for this as it could be caused by the ink tank being full. Check the manual.
The ink tank is a thick pad of felt in the bottom of the printer and every time you clean the cartridges a small amount of ink is squirted in to the tank. It soon gets full.

I have stripped my BJC 1000 printer down, washed out and dried the felt pad, replaced it, re-set the electrics as described on the above site and all is well now.
You may need help stripping the printer down as it may be held together by only two or three screws and plastic spring clips.
A firm could charge you £40 plus carriage for the repair but it can be done at home if you take your time and get some mechanical help.

hold the power button for 15 sec. for a system reset. Try to remove each panel that opens and check for broken pieces of paper Recycle the system by reinstalling the software once again. If you getting error codes then follow this We need to clear out these error codes stored in your printer NVRAM or memory! Shut down the printer and pc associated with it. Remove data cable and reinstall the software for this printer, press and hold the power button on the printer for 15 seconds, then reconnect the printer after software installation is successful. This process will clear the error codes that you keep receiving

Try driverguide.com for a driver... I think that printer may be pretty old and may not have a driver to work with current operating systems.

I have similar problem. Print head won't print, then I clean with alcohol, and get rid of old ink inside. But then head seems to just shut down. I have several print heads and printers that have plenty of ink, but head won't work. I refuse to think the print head will break so easily. I used my BJC 85 for YEARS with no problem whatsoever, and suddenly, since last winter, I have 4 printers that have stopped printing.
I usually end up just buying another used printer on ebay until that one stops printing.

You pretty much have to buy another prnter. I've had same troubles. Go on ebay to search for print heads for the BJC-85. But for the cost--if you can find one, since this is a much older printer--it's more cost effective to just get another printer. The problem is, that when the print head goes out again, you end up getting another and another printer, so that you've got several printers that work fine, but only one print head.
I have trouble that when the ink stops printing, I've cleaned the heads with alcohol, and then it just seems to shut down. I cannot get anything to print thru a head after cleaning with alcohol, even tho' other sites suggest it. Had same trouble with Canon i70 and i80 printers, too.
If you haven't purchased on ebay, take your time, because sometimes prices for another used printer can be good, sometimes super expensive. You can find a bargain, if you don't need to get one with power cord, because you've already got one. Good luck. Terry [email protected]

I am having same trouble with my BJC 85, and my Canon i70 and i80 printers. It always starts that the ink gets weak on the paper, then stops printing. I have tried deep cleanings.....several dozens.....and doesn't do anything. So then, I have cleaned the print head by soaking in alcohol or merely dabbing with Qtip of alcohol, and old ink usually is dissolved. But then I have NEVER been able to get a cleaned print head to accept ink thru. I have even added ink to the print head itself, and just wont print anything.
Some other sites speak about soaking it in warm water to dissolve old ink, I'm going to try that as last resort, but after that, I really don't know what to do. I have NEVER had this problem with my 85's before. They've been extremely faithful workhorses, but since last year, getting cheap ink online made in China has clogged up the printers.
I do not have any error messages, so don't have to deal with that. But just perplexed why the print heads won't work, especially after cleaning with alcohol. They just seem to shut off.
